  1. Well, isn't all the stuff they're reissuing past the 50 year threshold? Guy Far, far, far from it. Well, that shit's not cool. Guy

  3. I guess I somewhat regret purchasing the Chico Hamilton set, particularly when the best stuff on the set has been reissued by Lonehill Jazz. I probably could have spent the money elsewhere. But it's not really that big of a deal. Guy
  4. From tradesports: Game 2 winner: Dallas 65.5-66.5% Series Winner: Dallas 71.5-72.5% Miami 28.0-28.6% Miami in 5 5.0-7.9% Miami in 6 9.0-11.4% Miami in 7 10.5-12.4% Dallas in 7 19.6-22.4% Dallas in 6 27.5-29.9% Dallas in 5 12.1-14.4% Dallas in 4 8.5-11.0%
  5. "Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time."
  6. Narada Michael Walden's drumming is annoying. It seems the guy had only two styles: overplaying, and REALLY overplaying. Guy
  7. I don't understand why she would fly first to Amman and then to Tel Aviv. Guy
  8. Elegant Gypsy is fun in a brainless sort of way. Guy
  9. Got to agree. I'd also toss in John Abercrombie. Got a strong dislike for that long drawn-out sustain they use that almost sounds like an organ. I'm a huge fan of the 70s Abercrombie sound, but not of the 90s Abercrombie sound. Guy
  10. I haven't listened to CD in a long time, but I seem to recall that it didn't add too much to the studio versions of the same songs. It did add some unnecessary length to "Radioactive Toy" (or "Not Beautiful Anymore", don't remember). Guy
  11. This is a wild tangent, but I would love to see a supergroup w/Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette! Guy
  12. I'm not that familiar with Coleman except for his Sonic Language of Myth album and a few recordings with Dave Holland. However, I like everything I've heard. Any recommendations? Guy
  13. Feliz cumpleanos, as they say in France
  14. Well, I'm not even sure there's a Dallas "style of game" anymore. The Mavs of old wouldn't have shut down Miami for 49 pts after the 1st quarter. Guy
  15. Almost two years later I finally picked this recording up. Handy plays like an MF on this album! I don't blame Mingus for letting him go when he had Dolphy waiting in the wings, but daaaaaaaaaamn. For some reason I like Booker Ervin MUUUUUUUUCH better with Mingus than in other contexts. Guy
  16. This Bill Simmons article is probably on the money with Shaq: Also this was pretty funny:
  17. The Heat lost a prime opportunity to win a game with their record-breaking free-throw shooting. Dirk and Josh Howard aren't going to be jointly abysmal very often. I can't believe Jason Terry missed that layup. Guy
  18. I know the NBA and ABC need to update people who are just tuning for the finals, but this pre-game show is painful to watch. Guy
  19. Steve Kerr answers some letters:
  20. The question is whether his body will cooperate. Guy
  21. There's apparently a new book out about these guys: link
  22. FWIW, a lot of this series comes down to Miami's role players. If Jason Williams, Udonis Haslem and Antoine Chucker play well consistently then they'll be in a great position to win. Guy
  23. From tradesports.com: Heat in 4: 3.2-4.2% Heat in 5: 13.0-14.4% Heat in 6: 11.0-12.5% Heat in 7: 9.0-11.9% Mavs in 7: 21.1-22.9% Mavs in 6: 22.0-23.8% Mavs in 5: 11.0-12.4% Mavs in 4: 6.9-7.0% Mavs win: 61.5-61.7% Heat win: 38.1-39.4%
  24. I think this is the EBBB -- it has a very similar lineup to the previous EBBB album (Holiday for Strings). I guess Motian changed the name since they aren't playing much bebop anymore. Guy
