I guess I somewhat regret purchasing the Chico Hamilton set, particularly when the best stuff on the set has been reissued by Lonehill Jazz. I probably could have spent the money elsewhere. But it's not really that big of a deal.

"Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time."
Got to agree. I'd also toss in John Abercrombie. Got a strong dislike for that long drawn-out sustain they use that almost sounds like an organ.
I'm a huge fan of the 70s Abercrombie sound, but not of the 90s Abercrombie sound.

I haven't listened to CD in a long time, but I seem to recall that it didn't add too much to the studio versions of the same songs. It did add some unnecessary length to "Radioactive Toy" (or "Not Beautiful Anymore", don't remember).

This is a wild tangent, but I would love to see a supergroup w/Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette!

I'm not that familiar with Coleman except for his Sonic Language of Myth album and a few recordings with Dave Holland. However, I like everything I've heard. Any recommendations?

Almost two years later I finally picked this recording up. Handy plays like an MF on this album! I don't blame Mingus for letting him go when he had Dolphy waiting in the wings, but daaaaaaaaaamn.
For some reason I like Booker Ervin MUUUUUUUUCH better with Mingus than in other contexts.

The Heat lost a prime opportunity to win a game with their record-breaking free-throw shooting. Dirk and Josh Howard aren't going to be jointly abysmal very often.
I can't believe Jason Terry missed that layup.
Guy
FWIW, a lot of this series comes down to Miami's role players. If Jason Williams, Udonis Haslem and Antoine Chucker play well consistently then they'll be in a great position to win.

I think this is the EBBB -- it has a very similar lineup to the previous EBBB album (Holiday for Strings). I guess Motian changed the name since they aren't playing much bebop anymore.
