What live music are you going to see tonight?
vajerzy replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Little Feat a few weeks ago. I'll always go see Little Feat when I have the chance! -
Little House on the Prairie, Season 2. Great family entertainment and good moral values, especially for an 8 yr old. Better than that Disney crap like Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade. Who has gone to the beach, put your towel, flip flops and glasses next to a big red umbrella, gone into the water, talked to people, then go back to the towel, only to find that the big red umbrella went home and something new is in it's place- then you walk back and forth looking for your towel in a sea of smudgy colors? My wife keeps on wanting me to get Lasik. I trust my wife. I'm a little hesitant because of the cost- but after 10 years it will pay for itself after you factor in the cost of glasses and contacts and solution. But how cool will it be if I wake up in the morning and I see everything without glasses? That will be an experience of a lifetime! I'm torn!!

organissimo heads into the "studio"
vajerzy replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Well a lot of what you said was WAAY over my head.....except being a new Daddy- congtats!! I do like the concept of doing everything live. Sinatra recorded this way- I listen to master tapes of recording sessions and he hits a note wrong and everybody stops and re-does the song. From my perspective- I enjoy the "liveness" of it....but I hardly know nothing about what you just said. -

That is mean- wonder what the authors and editors- and the readers look like? Who reads Maxim anyway?? Not I.... -
I don't like her either- but I can't imagine her wailing....I mean singing.... that much- other than the bridge for Playin' and a few versus here and there. I still don't understand what she contributed to the Dead.

Anyone catch the Yankees at Virginia Tech?? That was a nice gesture- and the players were touched and enjoyed themselves.

What did you get for your extra set??

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I didn't see any corned beef or cabbage in Ireland- but I did see lots of fish, pork, and some lamb. Wish I had some black pudding right now..... -
CBS SportsLine has a good one- I'm doing one for friends. If we did one- it would be for bragging rights- no way you'd collect the money- unless everyone waits and mails the money to the winner.

My Great-Great-Grandfather (James Kelly) was born in Miltown Malbay, County Clare. He married Susan McNamara who lived next door. He had kids and the youngest was James Kelly- who emigrated to Phildelphia in the 1890s. I visited Miltown Malbay in 2000 and found the houses. I have 4th cousins or something like that living in the Miltown Malbay area and relatives buried in the cemetary just outside town. -
That eyeball in the rose scares me.

UNC-UCLA UNC Winning

First off- I'm a Phillies fan......with that in mind, I really respect the Braves as an organization top to bottom and particularly like Bobby Cox as a manager. I like Matt Diaz because he genuinely appreciates being in the majors and he really fleshes out the team as a utility player. The Braves have a winning formula that I envy. This is the last year for the Braves in Richmond (AAA), they leave for Gwynett County next year. It was fun watching the baby Braves before they made it to Atlanta. I'm going to miss them. They're leaving because of the dipsh*t mayor of Richmond who the Braves got fed up with- and I don't blame them. The Braves are a class organization.

Can't wait to watch Sports Center for the highlights!! There's different ways to get back at players......in adult league I had a big 1st baseman who applied hard tags on throwovers with a runner on first....well a guy was mouthing off to me (I'm pitching) and I walked him and I threw over 6 times and my first baseman was nailing him with a tag right in the thigh- same spot each time.....he wasn't a base stealing threat.....runner complained to the ump and the ump just smiled and didn't do anything- I threw a few pitches then did a couple of throwovers- same hard tag...then the runner tried to steal second because he didn't want to get tagged anymore. He was out by a mile. Next time up I threw balls outside- he wised up and swung at everything and struck out. He was a quiet guy whenever we played them again and we played normal baseball from then on.

Ethan Johnson's (?) play was legit and fine by me. The catcher didn't give him a look at the plate and the runner had no choice other than to knock him down. He's a rookie and out to make a good impression- and if he made a weak slide I'm sure the Mgr would call him out on it- not tough enough- Johnson gave his all on that play. Duncan's slide was wrong because it was spikes high. I played shortstop and I always got into a guys face when he came in spikes high...mostly by accident. I have some scars on my legs from spikes high. I played baseball through college and in adult league and when you step across the lines- expect to be hit and have some rough play. I think the Rays are geting a new attitude- dropped "Devil", got rid of the troublemakers like Delmon Young and that nut case Elijah Dukes- and have some good young talent. Heck- Carl Crawford bowled over a catcher last week. They don't want to be dorrmats anymore and what better place to make a stament than against the Evil Empire?

What radio are you listening to right now?
vajerzy replied to BillF's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
My Zenith tombstone- I found some country music from somewhere in Alabama. -
UCLA is a force this year.....I don't know much about West Coast teams.....they start too late for me- I listen to the Pac-10 on XM.

UNC-Duke this evening! Doesn't get any better than this! I'm a UNC fan- saw them play Gonzaga in the Dean Dome and play Rutgers in December. These next 3 weekends are my favorite in sports- Conference championships, Selection Sunday, NCAA DI 1st and 2nd rounds......Go VCU Rams!! The CAA Tournament is this weekend in Richmond. I also run a pool for friends on CBS Sportsline- a lot better than getting the USA Today and handing out sheets- then grading them!

Well it's gone....a lot of good info vanished- that sucks.

devilin tune - 2 promo sets available
vajerzy replied to AllenLowe's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I have a lifetime of listening with this set! My CD listening days are limited with kids and activities and I think it's fabulous hearing artists and songs that I otherwise wouldn't hear. If you like older jazz- it's a great set to have! I really enjoying the heck out of it! -
I've seen Bio Ritmo many time at Friday Cheers in Richmond- a long time ago though....

April 19 - Trenton NJ, Mill Hill Saloon Holy cow- blast from the past....I used to work in Trenton (15 years ago) and frequented Joe's Mill Hill Saloon quite often! Wish I could get up there and see you guys!

Best Baseball Pitcher of All-time
vajerzy replied to Brownian Motion's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
That's pretty cool!! Seems that every Phillies game my Dad took me to- Wayne Twitchell was the pitcher. I attended the last game at Veterans Stadium and during the closing ceremonies there was a parade of Phillies from every year- and I'm pretty sure Wayne Twitchell was in the group representing 1971 or 1972. -

I played 30+ adult baseball for 7 years here in Richmond VA- the toughest guy I faced pitched for Stanford U, was All Pac-10 his SR. year, MVP for something.......played AAA for the Royals- when he pitched against us the first time- that's been the only time I ever *HEARD* a fastball......his curve was like rolling a ball off the table......he hit 90+ during that game (someone had a gun).....he got 16 strikeouts against us in a 7 inning game.......didn't get me though- I singled and grounded out.......and I'm thinking "and he was released from AAA last year?" Imagine what the MLB guys throw......he was an anomoly in the league- most guys were mid 70s-low 80s. Heck I threw low 80s......
