  1. UNC-Duke this evening! Doesn't get any better than this! I'm a UNC fan- saw them play Gonzaga in the Dean Dome and play Rutgers in December. These next 3 weekends are my favorite in sports- Conference championships, Selection Sunday, NCAA DI 1st and 2nd rounds......Go VCU Rams!! The CAA Tournament is this weekend in Richmond. I also run a pool for friends on CBS Sportsline- a lot better than getting the USA Today and handing out sheets- then grading them!
  2. Well it's gone....a lot of good info vanished- that sucks.
  3. I have a lifetime of listening with this set! My CD listening days are limited with kids and activities and I think it's fabulous hearing artists and songs that I otherwise wouldn't hear. If you like older jazz- it's a great set to have! I really enjoying the heck out of it!
  4. I've seen Bio Ritmo many time at Friday Cheers in Richmond- a long time ago though....
  5. April 19 - Trenton NJ, Mill Hill Saloon Holy cow- blast from the past....I used to work in Trenton (15 years ago) and frequented Joe's Mill Hill Saloon quite often! Wish I could get up there and see you guys!
  6. That's pretty cool!! Seems that every Phillies game my Dad took me to- Wayne Twitchell was the pitcher. I attended the last game at Veterans Stadium and during the closing ceremonies there was a parade of Phillies from every year- and I'm pretty sure Wayne Twitchell was in the group representing 1971 or 1972.
  7. I played 30+ adult baseball for 7 years here in Richmond VA- the toughest guy I faced pitched for Stanford U, was All Pac-10 his SR. year, MVP for something.......played AAA for the Royals- when he pitched against us the first time- that's been the only time I ever *HEARD* a fastball......his curve was like rolling a ball off the table......he hit 90+ during that game (someone had a gun).....he got 16 strikeouts against us in a 7 inning game.......didn't get me though- I singled and grounded out.......and I'm thinking "and he was released from AAA last year?" Imagine what the MLB guys throw......he was an anomoly in the league- most guys were mid 70s-low 80s. Heck I threw low 80s......
  8. Thanks Dan- that's what I thought. I respect your knowledge of baseball.
  9. Glad to see you are uninformed in all aspects of baseball, not just the use of performance enhancing drugs. That's not a nice thing to say. Regarding Pedro Martinez- he is definitely one of the dominant pitchers in his era. I'm very interested in how he does this year since he's lost some off his fastball- I think he will do well based on his experience.
  10. I hope I'm reading you wrong- but the best that I have seen is Seaver. That's my judgement. No one can answer the best of all time. A more appropriate question is who do you believe is the best in your lifetime.
  11. Dan- I'm not a Clemens fan, believe me....at least 4 years I thought he was taking something.....after throwing that bat at Piazza that sealed it for me for not liking him. I know people in the game- primarily in the minors- and believe me- Clemens and others are the tip of the iceberg.....and frankly- if I was in Triple A and needed a little something to get to the majors- I'd probably take something to get me to the next level. Here are 2 names I was surprised not to hear with steroids and HGH: Javy Lopez- his last year with Atlanta coming back from injury before signing with the Orioles, and Bret Boone- from an all-star to out of baseball in 2 years. But just my opinion......
  12. The one I emulated when I was a kid was Tom Seaver- I subscribed to the theory that power is in the legs- so I built my legs up to add speed and reduce the stress on my arm. The only pitcher I would pay money to watch pitch a game is Greg Maddux- because he's a thinking pitcher and he gets batters out not with speed but with location and movement. To me- he is the best I have seen.
  13. I gave up caring about this a few weeks ago.
  14. It's cloudy here and started snowing a little while ago...
  15. I recently discovered this site- I'm having a blast going through it- listening to concerts that I wish I could see in the 70s and 80s......I listened to Thin Lizzy from the Tower Theatre in Philly and I recognized some songs were on the "Live and Dangerous" LP. The Chicago concerts are great- and the Genesis shows are awesome! The big question: is there a way to save them on my computer and have them recorded on CD?? (Was that out loud??) Other than those I can download, of course.....I'd love to play them in my car for my long drives into work. drives.
  16. I found the thread- I messed up my search parameters: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...31276&st=90 No need to rehash old info........
  17. LCD or Plasma?? I watch lots of sports- and I'd like to avoid the blurring I get watching basketball fast breaks on the 19 inch LCD I bought a year ago. The max size I can fit is 42 inches. Also- I have Directv and the local channels aren't HD- they will be later this year (I hope) so I'm stuck watching conventional on the new TV. What do you have??
  18. My wife and I are attempting to simplify our lives- more into appreciating what we have versus what we don't have. The only time we've been overseas was to Ireland in 2000. Traveling there and speaking to the people made us realize how we can control the speed of our lives and not let it control us. We've been trying to do that ever since then. We're working on it....
  19. My wife finished watching an episode on 60 minutes about Denmark and came away quite impressed.....and she said- let's move there....or at least visit!!
  20. Okay, but let's not let the jocks off scot free. The whole issue doesn't take root without their greed. Agreed......a very good point I overlooked.
  21. Crocuses are up and some daffodils are ready to bloom. My honeybees were bringing in pollen last week when it was in the 70s.
  22. My vote is #4: They both will be charged with perjury! I listened on XM while driving long distances for my job and I couldn't tell what Congressmen and women were talking- but Burton was terrible......Imagine, ruining the reputation of the greatest living pitcher!.......that was a disgrace. Baseball is like the Mafia- you take a vow of Omerta......no snitching......or you're a RAT. I blame Bud Selig, and the players union for this mess.
  23. Just looked up this box set on Ebay- I'm shocked at the prices! I got mine from yourmusic.com.........the set's been riding in my car beneath the seat for a few weeks....gotta go find it!
  24. I have it- called Portraits. It came with an outer cover box and a booklet with Dan commenting on all the songs, plus discography and a biography. I enjoy his music.
  25. Mine shipped today!
