There's an outside chance you might like England Dan & John Ford Coley. England Dan's real name is Dan Seals, brother of the Seals in Seals & Croft. I believe brother Jim Seals even played on an album or two of theirs. Probably Nights Are Forever is where to begin your audition. Or perhaps a greatest hits package. They ruled the AM airwaves with Seals & Croft around the same time.

I've found a couple of boo-boos so use at your own risk. For the 2nd disc of the Champs-Elysees set there's what appears to be a transcription error. The online site has Andre Ekyan playing on "Swing 42" when he doesn't. He does play on the next song "Vega Blues." On "Vega Blues" they forget to include the drummer Arthur Motta. Might be the only errors for all I know, but there you have it.

Even though so far I'm just getting 1 of 11 and not getting any feedback about the rest, I'm thankful for the sales notice. I'm patient so if it takes them a month I don't mind given the price, and there are plenty of other discs on my hunting list that I can go after while the status of the ones being processed is (somewhat) uncertain. It is reassuring to know that they've done alright by others in the past. I imagine with the free spenders at this site and probably a few other places that they got hit hard.

Still haven't received an e-mail from J & R, but I noticed just 1 of the 12 I ordered is shipping. All the others are still being processed. (Everything was an OJC btw.) Kinda interesting how some here are getting e-mails and partially cancelled orders, while others are still being processed and not getting feedback e-mails. I guess I can be patient, just sorta strange when you see how differently people's orders are being handled.

Sounds like a delightful souvenir of the show I saw (well, while I don't know where the songs were recorded it'll work as such.) I wondered what the song titles were. I have an order I need to add to so I'll add this to it. Good timing!

Byrd/Adams goes straight to "Last Chance"
Quincy replied to Ron S's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
My understanding is that if you are the type who: 1) invests a great deal of time & money in your stereo system or 2) buys a lot of Japanese discs and is obsessed with finding the very best sound then you may have a problem with the sound on at least part of the set. However, even amongst people with these traits many say that the music is so good and as it's hard (or you can't) find it elsewhere you need to have the set. If you're less inclined to hear flaws in the recording/mastering process or you don't own special speaker wire or interconnects then I think it just comes down to how big your wish list is along with your wallet. For the record I don't have it but it moves around in my mental Mosaic queue. It's either 3 or 4 at the moment. P.S. - Regarding types 1 & 2: "Not that there's anything wrong with that." -
Same here. Still processing, no e-mail from them. Oh well, at least today some fuller priced OJCs arrived from CD U (I threw 'em in for myself as I was ordering a Jazz In Paris box for a gift.) In honor of the Byrd/Adams going last chance (already have it!) I now (finally) have Pepper's 10 to 4 at the 5 Spot. And 2 Coleman Hawkins. 1 is Soul, which at first I was kicking myself for forgetting it is/was supposed to be released as a K-2, but I guess a regular edition in hand beats a hypothetical upgrade in the bush.

Oh that will be fun! It's been a long long time since I last saw this, so the cars will even be cooler! Thanks for the heads up! Gumball!

It's been OK with me, though it was very slow around 6 PM PDT. I've had to start logging in as otherwise if I were to check the site more than once a day it will give me a white page with a warning that says they're blocking me as my actions don't appear to be human (or words to that effect.) Yes, I have been known to check the site 3 or 4 times a day at different times. Now they know what I'm looking up. Uh oh.

Should be a great Finals! I think this is the 1st time that the champs from the past 2 seasons have faced each other since the Lakers & Celtics of the mid-'80s. (A lot of repeat champs from the Bulls, Rockets & Lakers is one reason why such a thing hasn't happened, plus you have to have an East champ one year and a West another.) Either Duncan wins his 3rd or the Pistons win 2 in a row. A lot on the line for both teams and their <cue dramatic music> place in history!

Do you have Gram Parsons' G.P./Grevious Angel? Early '70s and a fair number of harmonies with Emmylou Harris. Over here it can be found with both albums on one disc - maybe it can where you are too.

Happy rDk-Day!

Is anyone else who placed an order still awaiting shipping or an e-mail saying your order is shipping? I ordered on 5/27 and every selection was supposed to be in stock. Going to their site says they're still processing the order. I suppose if I don't hear from them on Monday I'll nag them. At least I haven't been charged.

The days when Mosaic had their 20% sales.
Quincy replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Actually, no....its not. ← It would be ever so slightly better than 20% off, and a very narrow targeted sale at that, but I'd love it if they did a buy the Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions and get 1 Select for free. It would be just the push I (and several others here) need. -
2 Japanses soldiers from WWII found on island.

And don't forget clumping kitty litter. Oh boy, they're going to be so pleased! -
Just the other day when ordering another Jazz In Paris box from CD Universe for a gift I threw in 3 OJCs for myself as I wasn't expecting to make an alldirect order for awhile. Not the best of timing there. I tried to hold back as I really want to pick up the Hot Record Society box from Mosaic soon. Kenny Burrell/Coleman Hawkins - Bluesy Burrell Sonny Criss - Portrait Of Sonny Criss Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis/Tate/Hawkins/Cobb - Very Saxy Booker Ervin - The Space Book Stan Getz/J.J. Johnson - At The Opera House Coleman Hawkins w/ the Red Garland Trio Jackie McLean Quintet - Lights Out! Blue Mitchell Quintet - Out Of The Blue Thelonious Monk Quintet - Monk (OJC) Thelonious Monk Quartet - In Action Sonny Stitt - New York Jazz The OJCs tossed in at the higher price w/ CD U were Hawkins "Hawk Eyes" & "Soul" (as suggested by Chuck in the big OJC thread) plus Pepper Adam's "10 To 4 At The 5-Spot." Yup, I'm a wee bit interested in Coleman of late.

Oof! That makes it deadly simple. OK, here I go... Thanks!

Just stick the phone down the front of your pants then. You'll feel it! Thank ya thank ya Mr. Sngry!

2001. I liked the part involving the monkeys but fell asleep once the film went into outer space. I was not quite 5 at the time and I guess my parents didn't want to pay for a baby sitter. Not sure if the folks walked out because they didn't like the movie or if my sister and I snored too loudly. Um, the next time I saw it I stayed awake.

HAPPY BIRTHNESS JIM ALFREDSON!

And Happy Day to that B-3er fellow too! -
And one out of every 12 bottles is dosed! Several months ago I greatly enjoyed their pale ale. If they do as good of a job on the darker stuff they'll do right by Hunter.

Sounds great and thanks for the warning. Like Jazzmoose said I can't wait to ignore myself!

For jazz my favorite is "Revenge Of The Negro Lawn Jockeys." Rock I'd have to think about it, but it's definitely not Chicago XIV.

Opinions on Acquiring OOP Mosaics

I'm pretty sure he's a doctor who was born on 53-21-1965. -
1905. Back then it was marketed as a tonic. Yum. A brief history of Coke link.
