Okay, I'm sick to death of the bloat of most media players (WMP). Any recommendations for a lightweight media player for MP3's, etc.?

I can appreciate her chops, but I've never been a fan of her music. I don't "hate" her, I also don't get overly excited about her. My gut reaction is...BLAH.

I just gave disc one a spin earlier today (to refresh my memory) and was summarily blown away by Trane's playing. The solo on the first version of So What is almost frightening, there was something ferocious brewing that day! Great stuff.

I think the league has already given him plenty of opportunities to clean up his act, after all, this is his 5th(!) failed test. In an interview with Terrell Davis a month ago he stated plainly that he "No longer needed to smoke". Guess something came up... Anyway, with all the tougher rules around player conduct I don't believe Ricky will play in the NFL again.

I bought a "pop" tune from Napster (not my normal cup o' tea). It's a cover of that Simply Red song "Mad World" from the movie Donnie Darko (also heard it on tv commercials and C.S.I.). It CREEPS ME OUT...but that's why I had to buy it.

My recommendation would be to go to their website and download the most recent version of the software (they may have a newer build that will be compatible with your Vista drivers). Installing a fresh version is often the key to resolving these problems. I've used Zone Alarm in the past with few problems, it's a pretty solid home firewall.

I have most of the boxes...and I find that I've listened to much less Miles since I parted with the single discs. But that's kind of normal with me...I just tend to not grab box sets off the shelf as often. Another reason why I've stopped purchasing box sets for the most part.

I read an interview with Jon Lord (probably about 3 years ago) where he mentioned his main "axe" was a Hammond C-3 Organ that he purchased from Christine McVie back in the 70's. Is there a huge tonal difference between the B3 and the C3?

That's true...unless you have a 1,500,000 track library all encoded at 128k and now need it in another format...

This Turrentine release REALLY makes me happy! What a great session (She's A Carioca is wonderful) that deserves wider attention. I've been bugging Cuscuna for YEARS about releasing these Turrentine/Pearson sessions.

My guess is that there's no way this would sell enough copies to justify an RVG release. Nothing against the album (which I happen to enjoy) but I don't see much in the way of sales potential.

Alex Skolnick is a very progressive guitarist who used to play in a thrash metal band called Testament. He's technically gifted and always sounded "constrained" by playing in a metal band. I heard a cover version he did of So What years ago, it was very good although he didn't stay strictly "modal" with the solo. I'd be curious to hear what he's up to these days.

I feel your pain. I watched the entire first day (all 12+ hours of coverage on NFL Network) and I watched a good portion of yesterday's until I fell asleep on the couch.

I predict Moss will give 110% to the Patriots. He knows that he's in the tail end of his career and he wants a shot at a Superbowl ring. I don't think Moss will be a distraction because that just won't be allowed in New England.

I've met Lemmy from Motorhead on a couple different occasions (he's a really good flamenco guitarist by the way). I ran into Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam in Tower Records in Seattle (they were browsing the jazz section). I helped Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age pick out Coltrane CDs at a record store I worked at. I met Weird Al Yankovic at a CD release party. Did you catch Bjork while Snipe hunting?

While I have liked some of the Bjork I've heard I was quite unthrilled with the SNL performance. Just seemed kind of tuneless and meandering. (just my opinion)
