  1. Coltrane Jazz Love Supreme & Duke Ellington
  2. "Constantine"...I got a laugh when Keanu Reeves put a stylus to Brubeck's "Time Out" LP. "The Notebook" has some very nice jazz... I'll Be Seeing You - Billie Holiday Alabamy Home - Duke Ellington Always And Always - Benny Goodman String Of Pearls, A - Glenn Miller Diga Diga Doo - Rex Stewart/The Ellingtonians One O'Clock Jump - Benny Goodman I'll Be Seeing You - Jimmy Durante

  4. The re-issue/public domain label 'Improper Records' looks like a winner!! Basesd in Tonga, where copyright protection lasts just 6 months, we will be seeing some great CDRs of good stuff!! Look for their latest releases at Tower and CDUniverse.com. In a press release, Mr. Definitive of Improper Records said, "Why should the EU countries reap the benifits of ripping off USA performances of the last 50 years? We have as much right to these perfomances as anyone!!!! Horace Silver, Hank Jones and the estates of countless others have given us their blessing. Our only competition will be China and the integrity of jazz lovers everywhere. All of our CDRs will be remastered for superiour sound. The upgrade path is now clear and cheaper!! I have their reissues of: Art Blakey - The Big Beat Grant Green - Sunday Morning Donald Byrd - Fuego Don Cherry - Symphony For Improvisers Herbie Hancock - Inventions and Dimensions Freddie Redd - Music From The Connection and all I can say is
  5. It's odd that the Jenkins/Burrell is on clearance. I was only releaesed 7 or 8 months ago. I wish all the Classic BNs were on Clearance.
  6. LMAO That set-up sounds very, very expensive. I wonder if the sliders will hold up long term. Could he get at, and view the LP's easily?
  7. and.....hopefully, the vinyl will be from analog master. Classic Records has a good relationship with Blue Note, so maybe they'll get a crack at it. They love doing $40 double LP sets.
  8. Eric Clapton: Me and Mr. Johnson LP Prokofiev: Symphony #7 (PCO; Martinon) (4 Discs) (Classic Records LP LSC 2288-45) Fritz Reiner: Festival (Reiner/CSO) (Classic Records LP LSC-2423) Phil Woods: Phil Talks With Quill (Classic Records LP BA 554) The Shins: Oh, Inverted World (Sub Pop LP) Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsies (Classic Records LP)
  9. Is your set 2-eye or 6-eye ? ← 2 eye. Goldmine says this was the original of this comp. Vol. I came out as both a 6 and 2 eye. Side note...BMG had this to say about it:A pair of three-album boxed sets that at one time were the standard for Holiday reissues. They've since been eclipsed by CD sets, but are still fine. This may true for content, but not for sound or musicality. Just compared 11 tracks from the remastered 24 bit Billie Holiday Collection to my LP's. It's pathetic what they are doing to this music in the digital domain. Utterly ridiculous.
  10. Billie Holiday: "The Golden Years" Volume II(Columbia C3L 40). Nice "Radio Station Copy- Not For Sale" 3LP set from 1966. Earlier..Hendrix 8LP "Purple" box. Killer stuff!!
  11. I have Autumn Leaves on the Japanese Eighty Eight's vinyl and will probably get one of the other GJT titles. I really like all of the Eighty Eight's titles I have. I am looking forward to getting this one. So Alive / The Lonnie Plaxico Group

PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY CREDIT CARD AND MUST SHIP IMMEDIATELY! In the Clearance Items, I found 4 Classic Records 45 RPM classical titles and about 4 of their regular classical titles. I found Classic's Phil Talks With Quill and Sonny Stitt Blow's The Blues. Also, a recent Blue Note mono title, John Jenkins with Kenny Burrell. The above for 50% off ain't bad!!! In the regular priced items I found 6 Classic Records classical titles for between $5 and $15, that they recently found in the warehouse. Couple these with some of the Clearance Items and it's a great sale.
  14. I guess you could add this recent vinyl reissue: BLP 1557(Mono) Classic Records LP and the Toshiba-EMI (Japan) BLP 1557 LP.
  15. Brought home many snakes. Funny thing is they all disappeared from their cages within 48 hours of captivity. I spent 4-5 years in the wilds of Arizona (an hour from the Grand Canyon). Man, these places were nice before spa speculators found them. I swear the rattlers were 10 feet long. Scorpians in my boots in the morning. Part time money collecting them for necklaces. Tarantulas in numbers that still cause nightmares. My favorite....the Gila Monster!!!!

    DVD-Audio from LP

Nice unit. Should and could have been produced years ago. But, since I've been saying since the SACD seminar I went to 10 years ago, until I can author an SACD I ain't buying. SACD/Sony/Phillips..what a shame!! Only ten years until their control ends. I'll say it again. A format should not be owned. So few are recording in DSD, that in 10 years SACD will be a footnote.
  17. For some reason, I do not see even part of your collection being in disarray. Seems like a very unique Cannonball LP. Spinning....Lee Morgan: Candy (Classic Records) One nice reissue!!! Very thick stock cover, tip on jacket with film laminate on the cover , deep groove label. If it was not so new looking, I'd swear it was an original from '57 or so. And, the music that eminates from the grooves is......need I say it?
  18. It's how much the signal from the cartridge is amplified.
  19. Recently, I read a post putting down BN due the fact that, they found a formula. Owning about 250+ BN's, from 1948-1971, I thought the poster was a wannabe expert, if not a total idiot. This album, along with about 75 other BN's I have, fit into no formula I know of, except the liner notes. WTF happened there? This is one of the LPs I spin when I want to be awakened. I hear real beauty, and, OTOH real pain/confusion. Not unlike some Pepper from the Vanguard. Is it Sam Rivers that brings this? All I know is, if I could only keep 100 of my 2500 LP's, this would be one of them. Enjoyed the previous posts and looking forward to others...pro or con.
  20. From what I've heard these CD's are sourced from downloaded MP3's. The college student that did them enlisted the help of his 13 year old brother. Oh well, it's pretty high quality for EU PD labels...enjoy. LMAO
  21. Sonny Clark: Sonny’s Crib (Classic Records) Lester Young:: The President Plays With The Oscar Pederson Trio (Speaker’s Corner) Ry Cooder & Manuel Galban: Mambo Sinuendo (Waiting for his new one, Chavez Ravine to get the vinyl treatment) The Complete Atlantic Recordings of Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz & Warne Marsh (10 Q-LPs) Mosaic Records
  22. I'll just add my 2 cents, but nothing of use to original posters question. Opinions vary on the Monk's Music issue. First time I heard Monk's Music in stereo, I thought "Whacky", big sound stage, but not realistic and instruments are too far off mic." It sounded totally screwy and unlike what I was used to hearing from other Riverside stereo's. I much prefer the mono version, as the stereo sounds weird to me. OTOH, the engineer who mastered Paul's copy thinks the recent mono reissue is/was a mistake, but also feels the stereo has it's flaws.
  23. My 16 year old and his GF saw it at midnight last night. All I could get out of them was, "We liked it". Not a good sign....
