  1. Seeing so many titles licensed to the anaolg/LP guys, both in the USA and Japan, over the years has been much appreciated by me. Though vinyl is dead , I've appreciated Fantasy keeping many titles in print and I still buy them. If Concord ends the vinyl products, I sure hope they maintain the liberal licensing policies!!
  2. Rollins: Saxophone Colossus (DCC LP) Coltrane: Lush Life (DCC LP) Joe Farnsworth: It's Prime Time (88's LP)
  3. With Steve Hoffman in the middle of doing the mastering of 100 Fantasy/Concord titles for the 45 RPM vinyl series for Analogue Productions, it would be nice to see him get a crack at a boat-load of titles for more digital reissues.
  4. I think it is fine. At least they got licensing and I'm guessing the artists or their reps are happy, too. I'd buy this long before I bought some European public domain CDRs that so many love and praise.
  5. Are these discs actually CD's anymore? I do not think they should have the CD logo on them, as they do conform to the Redbook standard. Class Action time???
  6. Yes, I've heard that also. Makes sense. I've been buying RTI products since day one. I'm guessing I have 150-200 LPs done at RTI, over 80 Classic 180 gram LPs, alone. I never had much of a problem until I ran into a couple bad 200 gram LPs. It gives them both bad PR, but they seem to be working it out.
  7. Did he tell you if it will be analog or digital? Here is the latest info on Classic's 200 gram pressings. LINK Though Mosaic has no more plans for vinyl, I hope this little venture leads to Classic getting a shot at more BN titles.
  8. I've seen/held/played an original True Blue. Walked into a used jazz record store about 4-5 years ago right after they got in some BN's and Mosaics. I picked up all the mint BN's he had(5 or 6) and 2 or 3 Mosaics. Then I started checking out the TB. The cover was is in pretty bad shape, but the record played pretty good. He wanted around $150. I had already spent 4 or 5 hundred, so I passed. Got home and started thinking I should have gotten it. Called the next morning and it was gone. Oh well......
  9. ..uncomfortable melancholy Classic!!!!
  10. I still remember Bill Dixon teenage son's delight at finding the album when he too a look at my vinyls. 'Look Dad, he's got your record!' he shouted to his father who visited my place with friends including Steve Horenstein when he first came to Paris. This must have been in 1970. ← Nice, Brownie!! Like I said before, is there an LP you do not have?? .....This is about all I can contribute to this thread as I have no idea what's been out on CD. Was there a format change???????
  11. A changer?? Haven't seen one of those in years. These are 12", one sided, 180/200 gram slabs, with 8-10 minutes per side. These are a nice product, but not very practical. I only get them when I find them deeply discounted. Classic Records has been giving this treatment to a large chunk of the RCA Living Stereo catalog over the years. The 100, 2 sided, 45rpm Fantasy jazz titles being produced by Analogue Productions are probably a better idea, but the price tag is pretty steep and they never go on sale.

I believe CDUniverse has about 200+ Proper titles available, also. I'd rather see you get a CDR of the material from a friend than support these guys.
  13. Here is an example of how bad it is getting. Check out this PD development posted on another board. A couple companies, one in the USA, getting together to make CDR's and import them to USA. If anyone can give me the step by step legalities of this, I'd appreciate it. Ever wonder why record companies don't ask you what you want? Well, now they do! Eric Records will soon begin importing exclusive releases from an exciting new label in England specializing in hard-to-find favorites from the mid-1950's and earlier. But the good part is, we want YOU to tell US what you want on these CD's - which artists, what songs, even how you'd like them thematically organized! Let's say you've always wanted an album of rare songs by Patti Page. Or, how about a disc with your favorite Louis Jordan jump 'n' jive? Or, would you dig a sh-boomin' collection of Crew Cuts? Or, a compendium of old-time, country Christmas classics by Tex Ritter? It's your pick! These moderately-priced CD's will have up to 30 songs each - songs that you can help choose! Just remember, these tracks must have been recorded before 1956. To give us your suggestions, email sales@ericrecords.com. Or, if you want to get intimately involved in the selection process - and perhaps receive a consulting fee - please contact Bill Buster, owner of Eric Records, by e-mail and tell him how much you know about music before 1956 and why you'd like to assist with these new releases. If you're an enthusiastic vintage music expert, we need your help! Thanks for supporting Eric Records, an independent label dedicated to the music you love! Bill Buster, President Eric Records "Music Worth Remembering" These guys are hilarious. Putting together CDR compilations of ripped off material. LMAO!!
  14. Yes. As I've said before, their source is an LP or CD. Not any different than me burning a CDR for you from my collection. Why these labels are given any more respect than someone selling/offering CDR's is laughable.
  15. Woods/Quill: Phil Talks With Quill..(Classic Records reissue) If only BN's had this undistorted, true to timbre sound...oh well. Hendrix: Band Of Gypsys (Classic Records reissue) From all accounts the best sounding version, period. Still available for $15, I believe. The Shins: Oh, Inverted World(Sub Pop) I like their 2nd a bit better, but still a keeper. Prokofieff: Symphony No. 7/Overture Russe/Martinon/ Paris CO (RCA Living stereo/Classic Records reissue, 45 rpm 4 disc set) Could listen to this endlessly if I didn't have to get up so often.
  16. I've questioned them numerous times and get nothing but a very, very thick stone wall. My guess, it's all about the $$$. That's it, pure and simple. They are cheap and most people only want the cheapest. Therefore, they sell.
  17. Recent eBay winning bids for Vol. I: $315 $305 $325 $227 $128 $191 $330 $407 $275 $202 $200

Good sale, but it does not include 'special order' items as some of their sales do. Sometimes their in-stock items are on the low side. Order $250 worth of $25-30 LP's and save $6 per LP.....not bad. Classic's and Speaker's Corner for $23.99.
  19. Cool stuff, but I'd rather spend that kind of money on some absolutely amazing modern tube gear and speaker systems.
  20. Acoustic Sounds will be selling these for $25. The covers match the original graphics. There are no bar codes or legal lines. From Acoustic Sounds: "As far as we can tell, these are not digital transfers. These were made years ago and have been taking a nap in the Fantasy warehouse. We bought as many as we could. they're cool. I'm even buying a few."
  21. No CD's to compare it to, but the Mingus CBS LP is one hell of a good sounding set. One of the first I bought and it still impresses. Most recent eBay winning bids: $105 $130 $187 $123 $149 $103 $100.
  22. From Mosaic site.... The Thelonious Monk Quartet With John Coltrane At Carnegie Hall ( MQ1-231 Mosaic (200-gram)HQ-LP $30.00) Larry Appelbaum at the Library of Congress discovered a heretofore unknown November 1957 Carnegie Hall concert taped by Voice Of America radio. What makes this news earth-shattering is the existence of two 25-minute sets by the legendary Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane. And the music more than delivers on its promise. Pianistically, Monk will shock you and Coltrane is focused and impassioned throughout and the sound is excellent. For only the 2nd time in its history The Library of Congress allowed the master tape to be taken from its premises. The original tape was brought to New York to Master Cutting Room and mastered by Kevin Hodge and will be pressed at RTI where Classic Records has allowed us to use their exclusive 200-gram press. CD will be issued by Blue Note for $17.98. PLEASE NOTE: If you buy the LP and CD from us, we will sell both for $40. Of course, I'm glad to see this being pressed on vinyl. I do have reservations at this point and will take a wait and see stance. 50 plus minutes on one LP?? Not good. Is it analog or digital? Using Classic's 200 gram/flat edge press. I own quite a few of these , but defects are not uncommon and I've sent a few back to get a quiet/flat copy. I'll see if they take returns before ordering. They are just asking for trouble by doing this. 140 or 180 pressings from RTI would be cheaper with less of a chance for defects. OTOH, if they make it a double LP in nice sounding analog, and it's flat and quiet, this will be a killer product. Big if....
  23. The Buddy Guy, Hendrix clip....priceless!!!! Sorry SRV, but you are more than a few rows back!! Boom, boom, boom, boom!!!! Thank god, the EU PD rip off labels can't profit from his one... LMAO!!!
