The new best thing/format!!! LMAO DualDisc, the hybrid CD/DVD disc launched by BMG, EMI, Sony Music, Universal and Warner Music Group. This particular title will not contain video, but high resolution 24/96 quality audio on the flip side. I'm not really sure what hardware you need to take full advantage of the hi-rez side.

It's out now as a DualDisc. I doubt it will ever be issued as a plain CD. If anyone knows where I can hear sample clips, LMK.

Oh boy, I feel your pain!! I've had back surgery. I have a bit of experience in this area, I'm sad to say. For now, rest it by laying on floor. Once the pain lessons start with some hot/cold treatments. The following have kept me in pretty good shape and I recommend you start ASAP. Physical therapy to strengthen back and support muscles. Chiropractor- I'd get to one ASAP. They can help relieve pressure on the nerve that's causing the pain. Acupuncture- same as above Massage I have an acupuncturist that also does massage therapy.

Could this be the year for a triple crown? OTOH Could this be the year for 2 triple crowns?

That's funny. Probably could have googled it first, but..... Granz was not above playing the odd trick on his public however. At the time every Jazz LP was expected to bear the words Hi-Fi and Blue Note were by no means unique in describing the exact details of the microphones, tape decks, cutting lathes etc used on their sessions and if some of these had European names (such as Telefunken) then so much the better as that was held to impart an exotic flavour. Granz’s version of this was to include the phrase “Muenster-Dummel Hi Fi Recording” on the front of his LP covers. The knowledgeable listener would perhaps know that Jack Dummel was Norgran’s principal recording Engineer but could only assume that Muenster referred to some foreign person or process thus lending Norgran a degree of exclusivity. However the truth was that Muenster in fact referred to Granz’s favourite cheese. Nevertheless in terms of the ability to capture the sound with the best clarity and realism, most listeners would probably give Rudy van Gelder’s Blue Note studio the edge over Norgran’s - certainly the Tal Farlow Quartet was better recorded than the Tal Farlow Album from a purely technical point of view although both could fairly be described as Hi Fi.

I notice on my Norgran titles...."Muenster-Dummel Hi-Fi Recording".

Seems like there could be great sets from artists that recorded for Prestige/New Jazz, Contemporary and Riverside. Why didn't Mosaic ever go after these? Fantasy sure seemed to very liberal in licensing their titles.

Are you back for real, or just passing through?

Pretty good?? Ellington: Piano In The Foreground (Columbia/Classic Records) Ella: Cole Porter Songbook... Nice reissue from the 70's.

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
wolff replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
The Complete Bud Powell Blue Note Recordings (1949 - 1958) I love this beautuful 5 LP set!!! -
Allen, I love it when post and drink at the same time. Hopefully, you will pass out soon.

Not sure of title you are referring to. Catalog number? Classic Records did a nice job on 2 of the 3 Morgan titles they reissued recently. Good option if you are looking for vinyl.

Yep, I hate these places, too. Never been back. My main bitches about the original post was the way he ripped the guy a new asshole in public(giving his name and using strong language), and that collectability of rare LP's is ruining the fun of collecting music. Collectability may be ruining the fun of collecting rare collectable LP's, but not collecting music. LMAO.... It's kinda like saying, "the NBA players down at my local YMCA are ruining the fun in playing basketball." Improve your game or STFU and go somewhere else.

Are there any stand alone(audio component) DVD-A recorders??? How much?? I'd rather go this way than the computer route, if possible.

This is what I was told by a very reliable source, but I do not claim that it is 100% accurate, but knowing the source it's what I go by. After November 1958 there was only a single master tape prepared for each LP, ending the previous era wherein mono and stereo versions had different editing (often a solo or two inserted from alternate takes into the master take and new intros or endings inserted, but differently for mono vs. stereo) and where sometimes either the mono or the stereo tapes had not survived to the present day. ...After 1958 and certainly 100% by late 1962 the stereo master was the SOURCE of the mono disk, not some separate and distinct mono master tape.

Claude......Allposters.com Music-jazz-then pick a Blue Note artist and you should be on your way. Yes, a lot of mat per image size, but I like that for some images. For 10x10 you'll probably have to have the frames custom made or do some tricky matting to size it up to a standard frame size. For custom size frames, try finding a place that sells kits. For metal frames, they cut to your size and include all hardware needed to put them together. It's very simple and much cheaper than your local custom frame shop. Try a place like THIS. Looks like you could get a 10x10 metal frame for $8 plus shipping. Also, cutting glass is very easy. Buy a case of glass and have at it.

Really? I think I paid about $20-25 for a pretty good copy (of the original stereo, not the mono). ← Yes, that's what I paid for my stereo, too. The mono is a different story.

THESE look pretty interesting. A 5x7 note card of the cover, pre-matted(double) to 11x14 for $15. Find some pre-made 11x14 frames on sale for cheap and you could have some nice wall hangings. Looks like they have a decent selection of covers. Anyone do this?

Cool! Thing is, it's a collectable record and, like you said, he's in business to make a little money. I find little fault in what he did. It's like you blame him alone for the collectability issue. Why not blame all the collectors(and I'm one, at times) for the collectability of this LP? Anyway, this LP is not true mono. It's just folded down stereo and has no collectability to me as I have a super mint original stereo.
-
That's better.
-
Why do you want a very, very, very rare original, mono Delightfulee? You insult me my by saying, you are in it for the music. You say "collectability is ruining the fun". When collectors(and you are one if you want this LP) say this it just cracks me up!!!! And, when someone did not give you this highly collectable item(read-nothing to do with the music) at a better price, you tell him to f.. off on a public forum. Bad form!!!
-
I see nothing wrong with what they did and you seem like a whiner. Why are you interested in a beat up, mono Delightfulee?? You sound like a neurotic collector. As one, you should know it goes for $100-150 all the time, in great shape. He priced it at $80, then offered it to you for $60. Sounds like he tried to treat you right. Also, to publically ridicule this guy, in the manner you have, makes you seem like a real jerk.
