  1. Well, the LP set is from the digital masters. Just got an answer from Revenant. She used the word,"Unfortunately".
  2. They went down, then came back up by my records. The complete set has been the real 'bargain'. Also, the last NKC went for $617!! Speculators be damded!! Mosaic box - Complete Commodore Volume 1 $315 $305 $325 $227 $128 $191 $330 $407 COMMODORE VOL-2 -MOSAIC $380 $327 $300 $217 $378 Commodore Volume 3 $465 $450 $481 $510 $380 MOSAIC Complete Commodore Jazz 1, 2 & 3 66 LPs $761 $721
  3. I have much of his vinyl work(reissues): Peggy Lee, King Cole, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Doors, Beach Boys, Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, etc.... In this area, vinyl reissues, he is one of the best. Sad to say, I have none of the 100 Fantasy catalogue titles he is doing for Analogue Productions in the 45RPM vinyl format. From what I hear, they are the real deal!!
  4. Can I use this??
  5. I had it as Keystone, too. Wine on the brain,,,,
  6. Someone from here bought it not too long ago, but I'm not 100% sure who it was. If my ebay memory is accurate , I've seen this set go from $175-$300. Condition plays a big part. Edit to add: I knew we discussed it before.....Keynote
  7. A couple Japanese 10 inch Blue Note reissues: Hank Mobley Quartet (5066) Horace Silver Quintet (5062) Herbie Nichols: The Prophetic Vol. 1 (5068) Dorham: Afro-Cuban (5065)

    DVD-Audio from LP

Are you really? Where are the SACD/DVD-A Blue Note titles? That Tascam recorder sure likes nice, save for one thing. It does not burn an SACD. Like I said before, I would have been all over SACD years ago, if the units output the signal and I could burn the occasional hi-rez copy. Oh well, Sony/Phillips and their infinate wisdom... I would have bought a player and probably many SACD's had this been the case years ago. Maybe when my Denon dies, there will be a nice DVD-A/CD stand alone recorder available and I'll give it a try. I never see Sony/Phillips or the labels letting consumers do SACD's. Frankly, I'm glad I never got into hi-rez digital. I just continued to buy nice vinyl and upgrade my TT occasionally. I really did not want to mess with a hi-rez analog and also, a hi-rez digital front end and software for both. In addition, as many have stated, recording and mastering can be more important than the format.

    DVD-Audio from LP

Let's back up a bit. Why would I want to transfer my LP's to DVD-A? Please, I'd like to be convinced. I can't play them in the car. I can't play them at home unless I get a DVD-A player. Does the DVD-A copy sound better than the LP it came from? I can see this being the case if the TT/phono stage used in the transfer was much better than what I use. I would love to borrow a Rockport Technologies System III Sirius turntable and tonearm to do a bunch of LP transfers. These transfers would have the potential, all things being equal, of sounding better than my LP's as they are played back on my current set-up. None of my friends, who I make the occasional copy for, have the hardware to play them. Who is interested in transferring their LP's to DVD-A? People who are selling their LP's? People who do not want to wear out their LP's? People without a TT? I just do not understand why I would want to transfer to DVD-A.
  10. Means absolutely nothing. Other, noncreative, and parasitic countries could give a shit and will support copyright infringement. Spain and Italy.... LMAO
  11. And before that, maybe a B side to a 45 that never made it to LP when he was alive???? Pretty amazing artist, that Otis. If I may wax enthusiastic regarding Mr. Redding. I have this one amazing Otis LP. Good To Me: Live At The Whisky A-Go-Go, an import licensed by ACE, from Fantasy in 1993. All other Redding titles sound unauthentic and watered down compared to this bad boy. IMO it is one of the few live albums that remotely convey the live experience, off key trumpet and screaming females and all. I pretty much have to strap myself in before cuing this one up.
  12. Pretty sure it should be real nice, though I do not have it. Basing this on the Q LP sets I do have, from this period. I hope to get this one soon. This one has not been around much at all recently, and you got it for a fair price. Enjoy!!
  13. My favorite may be Amen(found it on an Atlantic Best Of Soul LP). I have no idea which album it's on and I think I own them all. Next, would be Down In The Valley off of Otis Blue.
  14. Buddy DeFranco: Bravura...Beautiful original stereo from 1960. Hodges: Blues-A-Plenty...Super Classic Records reissue Ellington/Hodges: Back To Back...Classic Records reissue Hodges: Used To Be Duke...Ludwig mastered reissue
  15. Buddy Rich Swinging (Norgran 26) Sing And Swing Wth Buddy Rich (Norgran 1031) The Wailing Buddy Rich (Norgran 1078) This One's For Basie (Norgran 1086) Buddy Rich Sings Johnny Mercer (Verve 2009) Buddy Rich Just Sings (Verve 2075) I'm guessing the box could include the above and maybe: Buddy and Sweets (Norgran 1038)

    DVD-Audio from LP

Interesting thread. If I wanted someone to do this for me (LP transfers), I'd probably pick the guy with the best TT and phono stage. It never ceases to amaze how much more info and music the better TT's produce/retrieve. Ticks, pops and general surface noise can also be reduced tremendously by top flight TT's. I'd be all over transfering my LP's to DVD-A, if it was as easy to do as what I'm doing now. Which is, put an LP on my Linn LP 12/Ittok/ Garrot P77. Run the signal to my tube phono stage(skipping the line stage circuits) and out to my Denon CDR-W1500. Adjust the levels, hit a button btween tracks as needed, and that's about it. DVD-A and SACD as formats are sorely lacking in all areas except sound. As formats they have done so many things wrong it's ridiculous and unattractive to me at this time, and I do not see things getting better. For starters the players need to output the hi-rez signal. Until they do, I ain't biting.
  17. The roster. I've been searching around, but so far, no luck.
  18. It's a classic.
  19. e-snipe is what I use.
  20. Very cool hobby!! I'd love to spend my money on some of those posters. Anyone know where I can find the 1968 USA Olympic track team roster?
  21. The Horace Silver Quintet plus J.J. Johnson: The Cape Verdean Blues
  22. The ever controversial Classic Records. They sure get the titles, though. I think they did an absolutely superb job on Lee Morgan: Indeed! I'm trying to find out how many more BN titles they are going to do. They have reissued some titles not on their original list and this makes me wonder.......????? 23. This may be off topic and preaching to the choir, but the last few posts have reminded me of a few things. Personally, I been concentrating(over the last 6 months) on buying titles from living artists and supporting legit, royalty paying labels. I am very, very disappointed to see so many buying, discussing and promoting titles from PD and rip-off labels. To see Proper and Definitive, for example, be applauded for their titles is the most laughable thing I've run across in jazz reissues in the last year. Frankly, I'm embarassed to see the artists and their legacy shown such disrespect by those who should know better. Spanish blue cover BN's....gimme a break!!!! Unbelievable!!!!
