  1. Zo-Ko-Ma------(BASF) Pretty sublime offering apart from the electronic sax effects on Konitz's great playing . Sat in the can for 8 yrs before a 1976 release , wonder why?
  2. L'art du son Record cleaning fluid. this comes in a 100ml bottle (£30 from Amazon merchants) . Diluted with distilled or ionised water . The ratio IIRC is around 1 to 50. So this tiny bottle lasts a really long time. Works as well as any thing else I've tried. Also works fine on shellac ( no alcohol)

    Ray Warleigh RIP

another thumbs up for Reverie . On Vinyl records Germany IIRC. I'm not aware of a CD issue .
  4. how does it compare? I don't mean which is better but rather does it have a different feel , mood or style etc. I'm impatient to know as my copy hasn't arrived yet.
  5. 1954 Vogue Paris date recorded for them in NYC. I have a lovely 10inch UK edition . Music is great
  6. Today's arrival Juhani Aaltonen -----Prana , Live at Groovy-------(Leo Finland) muscular 1981 session with Vesala and Reggie Workman. Added bonus is that LP and cover really are NM. Discogs ??
  7. another thumbs up for the UE Boom. Sound is very good as is battery life (13+ hrs)
  8. I've had RCM for seven years. It's a Clearaudio Smartmatrix but an Okki Noki is very similar ( and now a lot cheaper). VPI also do one. ( HW16.5 ). I clean most new purchased records and shellac. I'm no obsessive but this audio gadget has been a very cost effective purchase. As long as you don't expect silk purses from trashed vinyl.
  9. Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers with Theolonious Monk------(London) mono
  10. Japan were superb. Edge of the seat stuff, for neutrals. I'm worried how Scotland will handle them next week.
  11. Joe Newman ------The Happy Cats---------( Vogue/ Coral) Decent modern arrangements by Quincy Jones and Ernie Wilkins . Mainly Basieites with Johnny Acea and Connie Kay the exceptions. The Basie feel is limited with the proceedings sound more modern in the whole. Lovely date. Recommended.
  12. Charles Bell-------Another Dimension ----(London- Atlantic ) stereo. had this for years but I'm still undecided regarding it's merit. Slightly fuzzy recorded sound doesn't help.
  13. great band. Does it fulfill it's promise?
  14. Dyani/Feza/Temiz-----Rejoice------(Cadillac)
  15. Thanks to John and Larry for great write ups
  16. Belated Happy Birthday , greetings and salutations !!
  17. Interesting !
  18. Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark/ Aldo Romano-------Divieto di Santificazione -------(Horo) Drum 'n' bass. Not the most exciting Horo but worth hearing .
  19. Lean Left ( Ex guitars meet PNL/ KV Duo) ----- With special guest Ab Baars , live at Cafe Oto , day one---------(Kollaps)
  20. NP Art Farmer ------ Music for that wild party----(Esquire UK) .....and in keeping this isn't party music. Esquire outdid themselves with new title , new cover and preposterous liner notes about bringing this record ... " because Jazz is like now" (ouch!!) Ira G's notes from the New Jazz issue remain as does the music from Farmer/ Gryce
  21. Tommy Whittle ------ Easy Listening-----( Ember ) UK mono DG released 1960 All originals in this set. It's not easy listening as most would define that genre. It's got an aggressive West Coast vibe not unlike some of the Zoot and Al recordings ( You n Me etc).

    Ran Blake

I like what I've heard of Blake , SN box now ordered . I don't generally like buying music by the kilo . I mostly prefer immaculately curated issues/reissues ( like Nessa ) . As a consequence only the Threadgill and Cyrille box are in my collection. However I didn't have any of this RB material so I broke my self imposed rule and went for the box .
  23. Yeah - but an entire year to get an answer!?! I'm not as patient as you apparently are. just for clarification . I've emailed them probably 5 times over the course of the year. Several emails went effectively unanswered others have after a delay. The album did appear on their website before disappearing. That plus slow responses made me wonder what was going on. I wasn't particularly worried given their track record. I think they could have been a bit more proactive letting customers know etc.
  24. The Ex------30------( ex records) double let album of the Dutch outfits own recordings from 1979-2009. I don't usualy go for compliations but thought this a reasonable way to acquaint myself with their oeuvre. Picked it up at their recent concert here in Edinburgh. I'm really impressed. I can see why they've lasted this length of time but not why I've only just heard of them !
