  1. What label is that on, Chuck? It's on Verve - a Creed Taylor production from 1961. Lil Armstrong and Blossom Seeley make appearances too. Just listened to this. Next Art Ensemble of Chicago -------Alternate Express---------(DIW) blue vinyl no less.

Is the Antilles album available on cd, or LP only? Pass, I have an LP of this.

Very interesting ! I've been playing this in the car for the past few days only this morning in the home Hifi . It sounds just fine to me.
  4. Hank Mobley ------- The Flip-------(BN Liberty) RVG re- recorded original sounding musically and sonically better than expected . A recent buy.
  5. Happy New Year to everyone

Just bringing this up for air . Recently acquired 80' below '82 (Antilles) . It reminded me what a superb group this was. The Nessa was my favourite to the extent I ordered 3 further copies from Chuck as gifts to a group of friends.

  8. Hmm...... "What's New" is much more uneven IMO. I still like it of course.!
  9. I'd bet on this version of the future too.
  10. These sets are fine if you buy music by the kilo. I'm glad I've not needed to consider these. I'd prefer to wait to find a better LP or single CD issue from more "legitimate" sources.
  11. Another one bought yesterday , an excellent session.
  12. Tomasz Stanko--------s/t---------(Pronit /PSJ112) Very fine feisty quartet session from 1982. Plenty of grit and swing that aren't as obvious in his ECM output. Cover art is outstanding, I think we can all agree. Blue colour, nice, Stanko's name spelt correctly but sadly horn depicted is inaccurate in the number and type depicted. Lazy or what. This seems to have been a generic cover to which they added brief text. Curiously according to discogs this was also released by Poljazz but with a different (nicer) cover here's the Poljazz cover of the Stanko
  13. The Jazz Composer's Orchestra -------Communication-------(Fontana Jpn) Bought at record fair yesterday . One track recorded 50 yrs ago today .
  14. There's too little Art on clarinet. What I have heard has always intrigued .

I'd hold on another week. Delivery times can really stretch at this time of year.
  16. A fine musician with an extended career of the highest quality . RIP
  17. Picked up a copy of the Phillies pressing of this today. Great multi artist concept album. My copy is in NM condition which strikes me as fairly remarkable for a pop record of this vintage
  18. I really like Krog's Gershwin album and the meeting with Warne Marsh
  19. I found the same using Safari
  20. An eclectic assortment - to say the least. People themselves are eclectic, once you get enough of 'em in the picture to get an accurate picture. Small sample size, skewed evaluations, right? I've found that while people may be eclectic, what they allow themselves to experience often isn't. Too true
  21. The Les Spann is a very nice album and not too well known. I first came across Spann on "Side by Side"which was the first Ellington album I ever heard. I still have a soft spot for it. I don't find Spannn especially individual but Gemini is fine session which was recorded pretty well , even if my Jazzland pressing isn't too hot.
  22. Jimmy Heath--------Triple Threat---------(Riverside Inter disc) Fine session
  23. The Beatles -----Abbey Road--------(Apple) early UK pressing Here comes the sun, on a dark December afternoon .
