  1. Well, my contempt for Vista has been well documented here. My OS has been buggy at every turn. I'd much prefer XP. I'm going back to Mac very soon. YMMV.
  2. * p U p P i E s * .....will make it all better.....
  3. Damn! This one I missed out on. You lucky SOB!
  4. Thanks BF! And I'd suggest that the poster add to the existing threads - or at least be courteous and try to check them before starting new ones. This concept seems to be falling on deaf ears, fellas..........
  5. I haven't thought about that tune for ages!
  6. I'm kind of surprised that guitarist Fareed Haque wasn't involved in this project.
  7. Those are hilarious, Erik. Hard to top the first one. I always thought those motivational posters were lame.
  8. A good example also is his recording 'Tangence' - recorded with Robert Farnon and Orchestra. To my mind, one of Johnson's most emotional recordings. Yes, that's a good one. He also made a recording dedicated to his late wife Vivian which must have been an emotional undertaking.
  9. Interesting. The first time I heard JJ was on the Impulse record Proof Positive and I found his sound to be highly emotional and personal, to the point that it greatly affected my concept of playing the instrument. I consider SOUND to be one of the two most critical elements of playing the instrument (the other being TIME), upon which all other aspects(like melody, harmony and rhythm) are dependent. I respect what you're saying, though, MG. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one!
  10. I love Al Grey! He was one of the nicest people I ever met. Lots of soul and greeeeze coming out the bell of that horn! I can't agree with the reference to JJ and Curtis, though. "Thin" is not how I'd ever describe either one of their sounds! Have you ever heard either one in person? Also, have you heard the record Al did w/JJ? I believe it was called Things Are Getting Better(Pablo).
  11. Many great titles mentioned in this thread. It's a reminder of how great Getz was in all eras. We must not fail to include this gem, though!
  12. A great side, part of the Mosaic set. The piano (played by Patti Brown) unfortunately is quite out of tune. Still a great session, though. Excellent charts by Nelson.
  13. Yes, the edit was a good choice. The previous post was pure gibberish. You OK to drive home? :rsmile: BTW, congratulations, we've totally fucked up Rooster's thread with our little time-travel drama......
  14. Damn, Chris, you're getting slow in your old age.....
  15. Wow, how did I quote you before you even posted? That's some serious Einstein shit, there.....
  16. There ya go, a few minutes of your life that are gone forever. ........as opposed to the usual intelligent endeavors that transpire here*........ *frequently of my doing....
  17. There ya go, a few minutes of your life that are gone forever.
  18. Mostly lit moon now, with a hint of the eclipse effect. It was a cool event fo sho.
  19. Thanks BeBop!
  20. Ah......ah......ah........ahhhhhhhhhCHOO!
  21. The reason why I brought that up is because he's said nothing but negative things to me since I got here. It's not a misinterpretation, I know when someone is being hateful to me. Chuck is one of the coolest people on this board and, if you weren't aware, is a big part of the history of the music. If you were aware of his accomplishments, you could overlook/forgive some of the frankness (and occasional grumpiness ) that is part of his nature. Chuck knows his shit, dude, and is worth getting to know.... Trust me, the good outweighs the bad here BY A LONG SHOT! Don't be too quick to judge!
  22. I don't doubt that it will become available again, probably sooner than later.......
