  1. Boy, did I misread that last word.......
  2. Hell, I look at people in the 90s and think that!
  3. Crap! I think Ron's 278 orders per day ruined it for the rest of us! Ron$
  4. A real sense of collaboration and an amazing mutual sense of time. Expansive harmonic vocabulary. Some great variations on the changes to I Love You. Masters at work. Thanks for sharing that. I've got some students who need to check this out.
  5. Some great Cannonball, one of my favorites, up there with "Cannonball Takes Charge" IMHO. I've always liked the first tune "Arriving Soon", also nice takes on Well You Needn't and Star Eyes. Besides the contributions on piano and vibes of Victor Feldman, there's also some great Wynton. How can you go wrong? Hey, I played a gig at Dillard HS in Ft. Lauderdale last week, that's where Cannonball used to teach! This one should have been an AOTW. I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up; get it before it goes away, don't think twice!
  6. I liked the one with the dog who said "SAUSAGE!"
  7. Erik, did they have any more copies? As of this post, Newbury Comics is selling it via Amazon Marketplace for $49.99 new. Amazon Marketplace link Mine arrived from Newbury today. A very sweet deal! Thanks for the heads up, guys! :rsmile:
  8. Saw it this afternoon. It takes a bit to get used to the shaky "reality" camera, but I thought overall it was pretty good. Not sure if I liked the way it ended (don't want to give anything away), but I liked the way you get little glimpses here and there of pretty creepy things. A very different type of horror/sci-fi film for sure. Some pretty spooky sound effects, too. Anyone else?
  9. Cool stuff! I'm as happy as a little girl......
  10. Isn't Peter Johnson a lawyer? I'm pretty sure there are a few here. Good luck with your situation.
  11. "Salt Peanuts" is where I heard Carl Fontana for the first time, when I was in high school- I memorized his solos on the title cut, Confirmation and Yardbird Suite. I remember thinking that THAT was the way I thought jazz trombone should sound- smooth and swinging. It totally changed my life, I was inpired and really started to work hard to learn to play the instrument with that relaxed grace, melody and swing that he demonstrated. Of course, I also love the SS recordings with Rosolino- his solo on All The Things You Are on the strings album is a classic. I always wanted the saxes to blow, since there were several stellar soloists like Warne and Lanny. I assume they got to stretch a bit more on the live gigs. One interesting thing about those arrangements is that the bari and alto are usually playing the same line (Bird's) an octave apart (hence the arranging term "Supersax voicing" aka "closed position"). The inner parts- the 2nd alto and the two tenors- were the tougher lines to learn because they contain the harmony notes, which don't always have the melodic flow of the lead lines.
  12. Big Al calls it! The Cowboys looked good for awhile this season, but something sure changed. GB/NE looks like the likely scenario. I'd love to see a Brady/Favre matchup.
  13. ...about 75% "creepy" there, dude!
  14. chewmeister, once and for all... "should of" = should HAVE "could of" =could HAVE "would of" = would HAVE Sorry to go all "English" on you, your pal, FFA
  15. * C h E w y 'S * w E r D * k O r N e R * Accomony. A-C-C-O-M-O-N-Y. Accomony. "Many Americans are worried about the state of the accomony."
  16. "......and whiskers on kittens......"
  17. GB/Seattle game is pretty good so far. Real snowy "Packer" weather at Lambeau.
  18. Very nice. I also like the "period" aspect of the video. I also enjoy many of Sergio Mendes' recordings, I wouldn't even call it a "guilty pleasure".
  19. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time, and it is excellent! A very hard swingin' band, most of the credit going to Jake MF Hanna. Great soloists and great charts- Woody's band had a sound all its own. They really managed to carve out some space for themselves in a world dominated by Duke and Basie. EDIT: I have to say that beside the obvious solo heroes like Sal Nistico and Phil Wilson you HAVE to appreciate Bill Chase's great lead trumpet work and the writing of Nat Pierce, Bill Holman, Bob Hammer, Ralph Burns, Neil Hefti and Bill Chase. YOWSAH!
  20. I've always liked Atlantis. One of my favorite McCoys from that era.
  21. My Woody came today! (haven't been able to say THAT for awhile! )
