  1. Somehow I'm worried you're referring to me, even though those aren't my letters! Your name doesn't provide a lot to work with! Several of the ones I posted did seem oddly appropriate, though.
  2. A few current/recent drummer-led groups that I can think of: Matt Wilson Roy Haynes Winard Harper John Hollenbeck Jeff Hamilton Jack DeJohnette (other than the Jarrett trio) Jimmy Cobb Jeff Watts Our very own Johnny E and the Reptet
  3. Here are some board members: Fled jam? No sir! Sell sugar! Syringe Jam Cement line Can She Suck? An Odd Lug Foe Farrell J No ..plus, an old friend: Ear Johnson ...and finally, a former pop icon: A Moonlit Belch
  4. BIG FOOD!
  5. Do we get paid in cash? I can't make the rehearsal. Can my girlfriend get in for free? Is there an open bar? Can we eat? Not that lame sandwich crap, I mean the same stuff the guests are eating. Do we have to play "Electric Slide"? "Macarena"?"Cotton Eyed Joe"? Do we get OT if the gig goes long?
  6. Apparently not.
  7. Happy Beefday!
  8. Sounds like she's doing fine. Great news, Jim. And Peter, I love that pic of your dog.
  9. How's she doing, Jim? Healing up OK?
  10. I've enjoyed Emeril's show over the years, but it does seem to have run its course. I like Alton Brown's Good Eats, too, but he also is running the risk of overexposure. His role as the "tough judge" on their "Next Top Chef" show was laughable (that show was such a rip-off of Bravo's "Top Chef", which I thought was a much better show). Paula Deen's shows are just fantasy. Fun to watch, but I'll probably never use any of her recipes. Plus she does get on one's nerves after awhile, especially that "old broad who obviously smokes" laugh of hers. Rachael Ray's recipes are a little more realistic, but she also wears thin quickly. Nothing against any of these folks, really. Like most networks, once someone becomes popular the Food Network seems to immediately run them into the ground with overexposure.
  11. I've heard more than a few people with your opinion, Nate! I have to say that in my various hearings of CP, I find him to be more substantial than a player simply going through the motions. I feel sincerity, a definite assimilation of his influences and a relevant vocabulary in his playing that keeps me engaged. Just curious, what do you mean by "irksome" (specific examples)? (and I ask out of respect for your opinion, no defensive BS here!)
  12. It must have been the Hillary people! Geez, what a nice touch for the holiday season! Sorry to hear about this, RT- glad you and Mrs. RT are OK. I still believe that having one of those alarm company decals or signs (even if totally false) doesn't hurt. Yeah, I've got Vista on my new notebook. What is it you don't like about it, just curious? And how was the Brandon-band gig? (maybe better to repspond to the appropriate thread) Better days ahead my man!
  13. I really like this one. In contrast, I also like what he played on the Steely Dan side "Two Against Nature", especially on the last cut. I like that he can sound great in various contexts. Sangrey/Clem, have you heard the "All The Things You Are" recording from some Potter clinic that's been making the rounds? I swear, THAT should make anyone who thinks he's not a player change their mind. He totally owns the tune in a very Rollins-esque way. I'm sorry, but this cat is playing some SHIT! :rsmile:
  14. My vote goes to......
  15. I think Strayhorn's arrangement of the Nutcracker worked out very well, reflecting the personalities of the players without losing the essence of the original.
  16. As long as they stay in business, they can do whatever they want and I'll just learn to deal with it.
  17. Man, this season has had more great games and shocking upsets than any I can remember. Today, the Texas/A&M, LSU/Arkansas and (of all things) the Hawaii/Boise State games were all really fun to watch. And that Colorado/Nebraska game- what was it, 65-51? I thought it was a basketball score at first! Looks like Callahan is gone. Tomorrow I'll be watching Kansas/Missouri and FSU/Florida. I like that the final rankings are still up in the air at this point. Makes it interesting!
  18. Quincy Jones Mosaic, disc 1 Great stuff!
  19. Looks like your boys are puttin' it to the 'Horns, Agg (middle of the 4th, they're up 38-24)! If they don't blow it you might get to feel good for a minute!
  20. Assuming Dallas beats NY today, the 11/29 meeting between them and the Packers is looking to be a good game between two 10-1 teams. The Packers continue to improve and are looking very impressive. I think we'll be seeing these teams again for the NFC champoinship- it will be interesting to see if that game is in GB or Irving. It will also be interesting to see if Indy regains their confidence- they may not be in the AFC championship game at all if they don't get it together. The health status of the teams will certainly play a role in the outcome- currently there are numerous injuries to key players on these teams. Happy Turkey Day!
  21. I messed up clicking on the link.
  22. Thanks Jim! Happy Thanksgiving to you & the guys and all your families, and also to all the board members!
  23. Actually, brownie, I think it's just "him", not "them"..... (signed, another aloc supporter)
  24. Eddie Harris? Oops, sorry, I said I was going to stop posting. Sorry, Beri, I have no life.....
