  1. I used mine tonight, bought 3 $18.99 titles for $10.99 each. The guy who rang me up never asked for my Borders card, which is I assume how they link you w/the coupon (keeping you from using it over and over). So I guess I'll try to use it again! Does that make me a bad person? Plus, with my receipt I got another "30% off one item" coupon.
  2. Hey, take that palmetto bug and shove it..................... As I said elsewhere, I'm not yet a fan of "always summer".
  3. Looks like the midwest is getting a major ice storm tonight/tomorrow. Be careful out there folks!
  4. Cool! Did your wife take that photo of the two of you?
  5. Wow! It's Uber Goober!
  6. On purpose, I hope.......
  7. Damn, conn. Your boys just look plain IN-MF-VINCIBLE! No one seems to have much of a clue as to how to deal with them. 19-0 will be very possible if they don't self-destruct, which seems unlikely. Edit: That flea-flicker-fumble-TD was effin' ridiculous.
  8. I wonder about that- in the last few months I've noticed a lot of Lonehill/Definitive/Jazz Factory releases in my Borders store. I thought that was odd, you don't don't usually see those labels in-store (as opposed to online only) in a major chain like Borders. I'm assuming it must have had something to do with anticipated sales.
  9. I'm about ready to start up the air conditioner today. ATL only has two seasons: summer and that small period of about 2 months when it is not summer. /In my day we had four seasons whether wanted to or not! Tell me about it. About 80 here and the AC is running. I went to a Christmas party last night and it was about 70 degrees outside, but dammit, it's the holiday season so people were wearing their big christmas sweaters. I won't miss the long frigid winters of the midwest, but I wouldn't mind a little cool weather. Maybe in the MF 50s at least? It's going to take me some time to get used to this place.
  10. Nice pics, Mark! How did you manage to get that incredibly huge head in frame so well?
  11. Happy Birthday GoM!
  12. The Borders coupons are coming fast and furious as of late........... All single CDs $10.99 Limit three.......through 12/12 (Wednesday) Time to pick up those expensive titles!
  13. Steve Raichlen is a grill god. That recipe looks great.
  14. I haven't noticed that at all, I think you express yourself very well!
  15. I guess Agg blue it off, man.
  16. Didn't couw post a pic of himself (with a record sleeve on his head, IIRC) a while back? Is it on the "show us yer face" thread? Just wondering..... Edit: I guess that could have been fake, but I tend to trust (perhaps foolishly) that people are being truthful here. Either way, I see on your profiles you both have 5 star ratings, and that's good enough for me!
  17. Careful not to spill on your just-ironed shirt.
  18. Indeed! That one and one called "The Burn Brigade" with Brignola, Cecil Payne and Ronnie Cuber! There was a period of several years when I was almost exclusively playing baritone, and those were two of my favorite sides (I still like them, but I don't spin vinyl very often). Another favorite player is Bruce Johnstone. In addition to playing with Woody Herman and Maynard Ferguson's bands in the '70s, he did a couple of small-group funk records as part of a band called "New York Mary". Glenn is being a bit modest. He is excellent on all the saxophones (and bass clarinet), and was featured on bari with Maynard's band for quite a while. You should hear him play high notes on the trumpet, too! Do you still have opportunities to do that, Glenn? I was glad when Maynard's Live at Jimmy's came out on CD. That featured some great Bruce Johnstone. Also nice to hear Scott Robinson mentioned- he also plays an amazing array of instruments.
  19. I know what you mean. I installed a rain gutter over the back steps during a powerful buzz yesterday. Unfortunately, it was the wrong house. The owner was appreciative though, despite the 40 degree slant on the gutter. Which was nothing compared to the 90 degree slant of MoGrubb.

  21. There's reason to celebrate a bit. The demise of the board was imminent on "Black Tuesday", today things look much brighter. :rsmile:
  22. They are both very good. I do like the piano-less context of 2 Horns, it creates some nice open space. Of course, Cannonball is on Blue Spring. Hmmm....... I just checked at Amazon- if you order from the private sellers you can get BS for as little as $5.79 and 2 Horns for as little as $8.29 (plus shipping). Surely the budget will bear that?
  23. Last day of classes today, almost time for the big holiday break (after finals week and a few meetings next week). Looking forward to some time off! Enjoy your weekend everyone!
  24. Pepper had many great moments on the Thad & Mel recordings. Also loved his contribution to Lee Morgan's "The Cooker", and the things he did w/Jimmy Knepper. Another great side previously discussed was Pepper's "Encounter". Also love the other bari players mentioned. Different styles for different moods, it's all good!
  25. Hey, I'm a fugitive from reality, and you can kiss my "Harry O".
