  1. Very sad to hear this. He brought something special to all the things he played on. We were just recently talking about Stone Alliance on another thread. I just received this one last week, and am really enjoying it. RIP
  2. Marcia Strassman.
  3. Welcome back!
  4. You mean three equal parts, right?
  5. Those last couple of posts reminded me of this, one of my favorite episodes.
  6. Thought this thread was about Buddy Sorrell's wife. These folks do a nice job as well: Remember the funky BS&T tune by Lou Marini called "Hip Pickles"? Pickles are great to snack on 'cause they're low cal!
  7. BTW, this is a picture that quite closely approximates what our dog looks like. He's a rescued mutt, a mix of Border Collie and this, a Belgian Shepherd. He's got white feet and a white chest, but is just about as "hairy" as this one. He is a stunningly beautiful animal! ........and those MF eyes look RIGHT THROUGH YOU!
  8. Peter Johnson's recent thread about his new lab pup has made me think about this topic. Actually, right now as I'm writing this my dog is asleep under the computer table having a "doggie dream". He's moving his feet ("paddling") and moving his mouth, sometimes he even makes a little sound. I'd give about anything to know what's going through his head. Sometimes I'd guess it's about a romp at the dog park, but sometimes it seems to be about something a little more intense. My dog doesn't do a lot of fancy tricks, but it's just the "dog stuff" that interests me most. When he looks at me I swear he's reading my mind. He knows when we're going to the park, even before I "tell" him. He knows when I or Mrs. FFA am in a funky mood. Sometimes I have felt guilty for experiencing a greater sense of emotional anguish when hearing about animal abuse than certain instances of human abuse (not always, just sometimes). At several points in my life I've felt stronger feelings about losing a dog than I've felt for losing some relatives! Anyone who says animals don't have souls is TOTALLY wrong in my opinion. So feel free to share special pet moments, whether they be cool tricks or just instances of intuitive awareness. Cats and other non-dogs are welcome, of course.................. EDIT: Yowser, he just farted. Making my eyes water.
  9. That's a tough call. There are several in that category, and my preference will probably change tomorrow. I love all the tunes already chosen. If I had to choose at this moment, I'd say "Alone Together". If you ask what I'd choose as a "perfectly composed" tune, I'd also have to say "All The Things You Are". I'll probably change my mind tomorrow, or after reading others' choices, or if I hear a specific rendition of a given tune that knocks me out.
  10. Wow, I hadn't heard of that Fresh Sound version. Time for an upgrade I guess! Thanks Ron.....
  11. Beehive is available on CD. Although I believe Lonehill is one of the "naughty" labels.
  12. Oops, you're right Clunky, my bad.........post adjusted.
  13. Somethin' Else was my first RVG. I thought the improvement over the previous release was significant on this one, one of the best sounding of all the RVGs IMHO!
  14. "The Beginning and the End"
  15. You should also check out The Artist's Quarter.
  16. Heads up- Borders is having a buy-three-get-one-free promotion for jazz and classical titles, and they're also having an educator's sale (until March 28th I believe- show an ID or check stub and get 25% off your entire purchase). I was able to use both promotions on the same purchase and it made for a pretty decent deal. For those here who can take advantage of this, you've got 'til next Tuesday (for the educator part of the deal).
  17. Buddy Bolden. Oh, wait.....I forgot that old cylinder that I use as a doorstop.
  18. That depends on how much you like the cello There's always room for cello!
  19. Welcome Jason!
  20. Don't listen conn. That shaft is a bad mutha..............(shut yo mouth!)
  21. Now THAT one I don't have. Keep me posted.
  22. I would guess that "Alice In Wonderland" is also not a Larry Kart favorite. "Someday My Prince Will Come"? How does that one stand up? I'll admit that other than Miles' version I'm not a huge fan of that one. Or "Windows"? Definitely a darker vibe there than the others, much more harmonic content. Not a "cute" tune like the others. In the correct key of B minor, not the Real Book key of Bb.
  23. So he would have been born around 1750! Wow, that is amazing! "Slow and steady" indeed.
