Saw him several times, including two magic evenings with Gil Evans, one of them at the Village Vanguard when Adams (and others) ignited the orchestra to fiery proceedings! What a great player he was!

He plays on several of favorite Zoot Sims sessions (the Dawn, Argo and ABC albums, the 'Live at Half Note' LP with Cohn and Woods). He also was the bass player on Bobby Jaspar's NY date for French Columbia (with Tommy Flanagan and Elvin Jones).

Louis Bellson 'At the Flamingo' (Verve, mono, trumpet label) Beautiful studio session that does not seem to have been reissued on CD. Really a Harry Edison quartet date (with Don Abney and Truck Parham). An excellent Bellson stays in the background most of the time...

Missed the men's basketball France-Spain live but caught Batum's punch to Navarro in news replays. A disgraceful gesture. Understand Batum later apologised. Seems that a number of French participants have entered the whining competition and aiming for medals there with too many of them complaining about adverse players who defeated them 'for the wrong reasons'.
