  1. AC Milan deserved to win. A sweet revenge for them for the 2005 final although yesterday's game was not at the level of THAT one. The Italian way of concentrating on victory was a reminder of the 2006 World Cup final when Italky defeated France. I'm with Van Basten II, watching Berlusconi celebrating his team's victory was a downer
  2. Well, I have them all since I started purchasing Mosaics back in 1986. I never got the first four brochures. First one I had was nr. 5 with a full page photo of Herbie Nichols on the frontpage and a reprint of a Chicago Tribune article on the early Mosaic releases by Larry Kart on its back page
  3. The Complete Teddy Wilson Piano Solo box from CBS France, disc 1

    Chopin

When I was listening to classic music a lot (long time ago), thought there was no match for Dinu Lipatti on Chopin interpretations. His records should still be pretty easy to find.
  5. That's about what I paid for my Lex copy. A long time ago... Now spinning: Bud Powell '1953 Summer Sessions', vol. 2 (Base)
  6. Good to see Christiern back home
  7. One more Yes vote! I'ld also vote yes to a poll on 'Do we need an improved Search system?'.
  8. Reading those Sun Ra discographies is always intriguing and a trip of the mind. Just like going through some of Jorge Luis Borges's writing explorations
  9. A belated Happy Birthday Here's hoping it was a great one
  10. Happy Birthday, David Hoping you had a great one!
  11. I may be late... unless I'm early for the next one! Happy Brithdays
  12. Hope your birthday was a very happy one
  13. Curtis Fuller 'The Magnificient Trombone of Curtis Fuller' (Epic/Sony Japan)
  14. Good morning Brownie - welcome back ! Thanks Sidewinder! Good to be back here
  15. Copyright date on the Roach set is 2000. Copyright date on the Mobley set is 1998. I bet that one times out next year. Wow - was the Roach really out back in 2000? My mind is playing tricks, thought it was more recent than that. The Max Roach box was introduced in the Fall 2000 brochure from Mosaic!
  16. There's a copy of the Manek Daver book on David Stone Martin up for grabs now on eBay! Starting price $199.95... Jazz Graphics
  17. The album was part of a vinyl reissue program of Prestige/New Jazz albums from French distributors in the '70s. Have enjoyed my copy since (was a fan of John Jenkins ever since I heard him on the Riverside Wilbur Ware session 'Chicago Sound'). Other vinyls in the series included - among others - Walt Dickerson's 'A Sense of Direction', Harold Land's 'Eastward Ho!', Clifford Jordan's 'Starting Time'!
  18. He played at Carnegie Hall last month: Gardenias for Lady Day
  19. It's not the first time that somebody reports the booklet is missing from that vinyl! My copy has the booklet but I don't have a scanner
  20. I was told at Taschen France that the book was delayed and would not be published before early 2008
  21. Chronological Classics have already released at least four volumes (from 1925 to 1930) of Red Nichols material, with probably more on the way. Think I'll skip a Mosaic box. The music is fine but I don't think I need a complete box with alternates et al!
  22. Strangely, there is no mention of this book on the Taschen.com website or if there is I could not find it!
  23. Sadi 'More Vibes' (Jazz Club)
  24. Art Pepper 'Living Legend' (Contemporary, stereo)
  25. Got the session through a friendly poster The sound is really good. About the Lonehill issue, I wonder what's going to be left out since the recorded material totals more than 83 minutes!
