Don't know for sure, but maybe they're just waiting for a new pressing. If it was a label problem, wouldn't they just delete it from the site altogether? ← Maybe its a language thing ... if it was an issue of being out of stock, I'd say "temporarily out of stock" so "unavailable" had me wondering if it was something else. You're probably right though, I doubt they'd release it unless they had their I's dotted and T's crossed. In the meantime, I'll just listen to the same group on "Smokin' Out Loud".

Oh hell ... I saw the Dr. Lonnie Smith release, and a Ryan Kiso-Ian Hendrickson Smith live date and said F-it and just ordered them. Does anyone know why the Eric Alexander is "unavailable"? Is it possible there's a question about him recording for a different label and maybe its being pulled?
-
Thanks for the reminder on this one, when I saw it listed on Alan's site, I'd made a mental note to pick this one up along with the Fathead Newman Cellar Live release when I can get them at the same time.

The most bizarre place you bought Jazz in
Dan Gould replied to White Lightning's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Uh, then how come he was able to buy gas at the same station? Did they take a different currency for gasoline? -
What John said. Solid EA disc, well worth hearing if you dig him.

Just stunning. I had no idea he could be such an asshole. Definitely a long MLB suspension, we'll see if the Rangers add to it or something. What a jackass. IN the meantime, now its time for SS1s Indians to beat up on the O's, and the best news other than avoiding the sweep yesterday was Schilling's strong performance on his first rehab start. Probably one more rehab start on July 4th and he's on track to start July 10 against the O's. The great thing about Schilling healthy and just about ready is, no one is likely to make a trade that brings someone to the East who has the impact of a Schilling. I think the Sox are ready to roll .... Meanwhile, what about the reports that the Yanks are ready to release or trade both Quantrill and Stanton and bring up a couple of rookies for middle relief? I know both pitchers stunk, but at least STanton still had the stats as a lefty specialist, I think lefthanded hitters are like 6 for 30 something against him.

Looks like a good one, Brownie, especially considering the few Curtis Peagler recordings that exist. Is it a new reissue? Can't even find it on a google search, except for some dude's list of his collection.

Whatever it is, we can't deal with this much longer. I say give the job to Timlin until Foulke gets his act together. The Globe had an interesting split on Foulke's stats. His ERA in non-save situations is a Foulke-like 1.90. His ERA in save situations is like 9+, a rather un-Foulke like number. The problem is, Francona is too damn faithful to his players and he'll never make the switch, and I don't think Theo will order him to, either.

No, Dan. I think that's pretty accurate. Excessive caffeine can keep you sitting on the porcelain throne. ← Too Much Information!!!!!
-
He said its Diet Coke and I don't think that has the same teeth-destroying capability.
-
Actually, unless you have a really odd medical problem, THAT'S A BLADDERLOAD OF COKE!!!!
-
Whatever. A gift from Foulke, and I say it is now time to annoint Timlin and his 1.63 ERA as the closer until and unless Foulke GETS HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS.

I'd take it a step above Music Director and speak to the GM. Not only is the programming philosophy wrong, but the treatment of the listener is outrageous, and at minimum, the GM should call him on the carpet for it.
-
So, do you think that with the new "sanctioned" programming philosophy, they actually got rid of all Ornette albums, or was the kid lying to cover up the fact that he's no longer on the "approved" list?
-
Just promise they won't show any signs of life next week in Arlington when they host the Sox!
-
Is that Rob's music thingy? I wouldn't have thought you liked his music ... I think you would have to say he likes my music. Some of the most famous musicians were animals, yo. Really? Like who? Well, let's have a look. Cat Stevens ... The Beatles ... Charlie Bird Parker ... um, well, The Animals of course. See, I don't think any of them were actual - Oh. Thelonious Monkey.
-
Enjoy it while you can. As far as interleauge play goes, given the Sox performance this time around, I can't complain too much.
-
I'd say that the only drawback to this announcement is that the Bird/Diz Uptown release will now have major competition for being the most important musical discovery of the millenium. Seriously this is fabulous news, obviously money talks and it didn't take a lot of discussion to get a deal done and get this out. Very exciting to hear a soundboard recording of this group, especially since I've found the sound of the Five Spot recording to be hard to get past and focus on the music.

Is this available? Anybody heard this? ← AMG shows it as an OJC: LADY TIME AMG has sound clips too.

Thanks for posting this, Brownie!

Gold Coast Jazz Society 2005-6 Season
Dan Gould replied to Dan Gould's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Funny, I prefer the less Trane-influenced, Messengers-Jazztet era sound ... but that will hardly keep me away from this show! -
Funny, Garth, but I saw this one at Borders just yesterday but decided to pass for the moment. I figured it was unlikely that anyone else would grab it; but now if someone does, I know where to go. Thanks for the heads-up, I figured it would be good but decided not to spend any money yesterday.

Why is someone selling our record for $39.99?
Dan Gould replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Did you ask why, given its continued availability at less than half of that? That's the follow-up question! -
I remember listening to an oldies radio show countdown of novelty tunes. The one FFA refers to was in the top 5 with the usual suspects (Monster Mash, Purple People Eater) and one I missed when I was growing up:
