A hot team was beaten by a hotter team (and again last night). In case you missed it, here are a selection of photos from Fenway. Tuesday, June 14 was the 230th anniversary of the founding of the Army by the Continental Congress, so there were a huge number of folks in uniform and a very nice pre-game ceremony: Wells stares in at Junior: Wells delivers to Griffey: Trot Nixon awaits the delivery: Big Papi waves the bat: Good shot of Tek with the pitch on the way: From the Monster (you can see the shift they pulled with Griffey at bat): And we gotta finish up with these two: And the championship banner:

OK, here are the best photos from Fenway: Tuesday, June 14 was the 230th anniversary of the founding of the Army by the Continental Congress, so there were a huge number of folks in uniform and a very nice pre-game ceremony: Wells stares in at Junior: Wells delivers to Griffey: Trot Nixon awaits the delivery: Big Papi waves the bat: Good shot of Tek with the pitch on the way: From the Monster (you can see the shift they pulled with Griffey at bat): And we gotta finish up with these two: And the championship banner:

The first picture we took in Boston was of Pizzaria Uno: Can any of you Photoshop wizards convert this back to Storyville? If John sees this, how about an animated gif with Bird walking up to the club? C'mon guys, I took this picture just so someone could have some fun with it!

Thanks, Chris.

Bentsy, Just You, Just Me is a duet album, Sweets and Hines. Very nice, but not one of the Sweets/Lock. Just Friends and Light and Lovely are the two Sweets/Lock collaborations on Black and Blue. In addition to Jawbreakers which also gets a there is Sonny, Sweets & Jaws on the Who's Who in Jazz label, also a good 'un.

If I am wrong, someone can correct me, but it was my understanding that the "Spanish blue cover BNs" were a legitimately licensed reissue series put out by Time-Life. While one may find the blue tinting of the covers to be execrable, it is simply wrong to lump them in with "PD and rip-off labels". Again, if I am wrong, someone can correct me. But I'm pretty sure I am not.

Yes - its the tune I skip!

I don't recognize the cover ... is this a new release or a reissue of earlier material? I have an LP that is Sweets/Lock/Kenny Drew, so I need to know if this is something different or more of the same? I'm with you B., Sweets and Lock were a great team. Have you either of their Black & Blue CDs? If I recall correctly, they did a single recording session and divided them up into a Sweets led date and a Lock led date. I want to say one is titled "Light and Lovely" but I don't have them handy. But if you have a source for Black & Blue CDs, I highly recommend them!

Indeed!!! Good to have you here, Mr.JazzMan!

I've had back injuries before - one time, I got a spasm as I bent backwards in the shower to wet my hair, and the pain was so bad I couldn't see for about five minutes. What Paul says about muscle relaxants and pain pills is definitely a good idea; I hate to admit it but I never did really follow up with the exercises I was supposed to do to strengthen things. But on the other hand, the back hasn't given me a problem since right after the honeymoon, nearly 4 years ago. Get thee to a Doctor and get thee some drugs, STAT!

Well, I had no idea there were programs to extract audio from a DVD ... so when I had the same problem Al had, I played the DVD and launched my audio editing software Goldwave and trial and error quickly revealed what input the DVD audio was going to, so I was able to record the audio in "real time" and save it as a wav.

In all seriousness, this should be taken as a reminder that there is a reason why you should walk over the lawn you're cutting in order to clear out big sticks, branches, rocks. Glad you're eye is feeling better.

Jeff, We did make it and had a great time, even though it was way too cold for we Florida people. We won both games, Wells had a no-hitter into the 6th on Tuesday, and I have to say that sitting on top of the Green Monster is one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life. Anyone who gets the chance owes it to themselves to experience the Mahnstah! Once I get the film developed and digitized, I'm going to post some pics in the thread I started about our Boston trip, so look for it sometime next week.

I'm bringing this back up to ask a question re: Tina Brooks with Ray Charles. I just received a private recording of Ray Charles from 1966. The info I have is: Ray Charles Palais des Sport Paris, France 10-22-66 Is there any chance that Tina was still with Ray at this point?

Well, I can tell you that I was able to hit Gary with another, highly obscure item in his brother's discography http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...1&st=&p=entry and when I found out that he was also lacking all of Charles' Mainstream Records appearances, I hooked him up with our own Bill Fenohr and got him covered in that regard, too. ← Gary is still around, but now with a complete collection of Charles's music, thanks to the overwhelming generosity and kindness of two stellar individuals in Dan Gould and Bill Fenohr. There have been a number of family gatherings during which the newly acquired music made its debut to everyone's delight. Dan, some material is scheduled to be moved out of our storage unit over the upcoming July 4th holiday. That will make a way for me to get at the 2 or 3 gospel albums we did of Charles. Since I don't have the equipment to transfer from vinyl to electronic media, I will ship it to you in hopes that you can perform the magic. Has your address changed? gary@kynard.com ← Gary, you've got mail!

Look closely at your options when you try to pay someone next time. They may try to hide it, but there should be a way to select your Paypal account as the source of your payment. I've noticed that they're trying to make it harder to pay with a credit card if you've attached a checking account to your paypal account, but if I can go through a couple of screens to pay via credit card, surely you can pay with your paypal balance.

It was Golden Grahams throughout high school, but now I'm more likely to go for the Honey Bunches of Oats with fruit (especially the peach version).

Dan, This is a live CD. Assuming that Stefan has heard most of Wayne's recent live recordings (extremely well circulated), he may very well have heard the entire CD. Guy ← I am well aware that this is a live CD. Are you serious in telling me that every single concert in what I imagine was a lengthy concert tour has been recorded and circulated? Furthermore, without hearing the CD in question and the specific tunes that Verve, and presumably Wayne himself chose, how does Stefan know that he's heard the CD?

Well, we just got back from our excellent Boston adventure. Tuesday was especially adventurous, as my lack of reading comprehension skills + directional incompetence set us off on a most lengthy walk in search of the fabled Stereo Jack's. Fortunately, while I lack directional skills, I am not the typical male who refuses to ask for directions. Bottom line, while I led my wife way, way too far in the wrong direction, it wasn't anything that a $20 cab ride couldn't fix. And at the end of the cab ride was ... STEREO JACK'S where we met and visited with the kindly owner and happily dropped some serious coinage. It would have been worse, but I had to shorten the examination of the CD selection because we had spent so much time trying to get there, we were running out of time to get back to Fenway for the game. Best of all, the Sox won both games, and sitting on the Monster was a total blast, even if I was freezing my nuts off. And we spent most of Wednesday enjoying the MFA, including a way cool exihibition of Ralph Lauren's car collection. All in all, an excellent two-day getaway, and once I get the film developed, I'll post some photos.

Jackson should have been required to testify. Is it unreasonable to expect that a 46 year old man who sleeps with young boys should be asked to explain such behaviour? ← This is a joke, right? Or are you just completely unfamiliar with the Bill of Rights?
-
You've got to be kidding, Stefan. The thread is NOT about the music played on the tour and subsequently traded as private recordings. Its about the music put out on the Verve CD in question. Stereojack has heard the CD. YOU HAVE NOT.

Stop the presses, but I agree with Johnny. When the family uses and abuses the legal system in highly questionable ways, it brings up serious chances for reasonable doubt to exist. That and the fact that you've got the kid denying things vehemently at one point and then changing his attitude. While I have no doubt whatsoever that MJ is a child molester, I have reasonable doubt, or at least can understand, a verdict of not guilty in this case. And Rooster, of course if Michael Jackson weren't a celebrity, no one would give a rat's ass about this verdict. But he is, and he's someone the world has watched since he was five years old, and has watched him become weirder and weirder. Of course there is fascination and interest in the outcome of this case. THAT's why it merits the attention its gotten. Or at least 50% of the attention its received ... the other 50% is purely a function of all-news channels and 24 hours of airtime to fill.

Yeah, the problem is, he's pretty hot right now. I wanted to see him play, not beat us!
