  1. Well, I can tell you that I was able to hit Gary with another, highly obscure item in his brother's discography http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...1&st=&p=entry and when I found out that he was also lacking all of Charles' Mainstream Records appearances, I hooked him up with our own Bill Fenohr and got him covered in that regard, too. ← Gary is still around, but now with a complete collection of Charles's music, thanks to the overwhelming generosity and kindness of two stellar individuals in Dan Gould and Bill Fenohr. There have been a number of family gatherings during which the newly acquired music made its debut to everyone's delight. Dan, some material is scheduled to be moved out of our storage unit over the upcoming July 4th holiday. That will make a way for me to get at the 2 or 3 gospel albums we did of Charles. Since I don't have the equipment to transfer from vinyl to electronic media, I will ship it to you in hopes that you can perform the magic. Has your address changed? gary@kynard.com ← Gary, you've got mail!
  2. Look closely at your options when you try to pay someone next time. They may try to hide it, but there should be a way to select your Paypal account as the source of your payment. I've noticed that they're trying to make it harder to pay with a credit card if you've attached a checking account to your paypal account, but if I can go through a couple of screens to pay via credit card, surely you can pay with your paypal balance.
  3. It was Golden Grahams throughout high school, but now I'm more likely to go for the Honey Bunches of Oats with fruit (especially the peach version).

  5. Dan, This is a live CD. Assuming that Stefan has heard most of Wayne's recent live recordings (extremely well circulated), he may very well have heard the entire CD. Guy ← I am well aware that this is a live CD. Are you serious in telling me that every single concert in what I imagine was a lengthy concert tour has been recorded and circulated? Furthermore, without hearing the CD in question and the specific tunes that Verve, and presumably Wayne himself chose, how does Stefan know that he's heard the CD?
  6. Well, we just got back from our excellent Boston adventure. Tuesday was especially adventurous, as my lack of reading comprehension skills + directional incompetence set us off on a most lengthy walk in search of the fabled Stereo Jack's. Fortunately, while I lack directional skills, I am not the typical male who refuses to ask for directions. Bottom line, while I led my wife way, way too far in the wrong direction, it wasn't anything that a $20 cab ride couldn't fix. And at the end of the cab ride was ... STEREO JACK'S where we met and visited with the kindly owner and happily dropped some serious coinage. It would have been worse, but I had to shorten the examination of the CD selection because we had spent so much time trying to get there, we were running out of time to get back to Fenway for the game. Best of all, the Sox won both games, and sitting on the Monster was a total blast, even if I was freezing my nuts off. And we spent most of Wednesday enjoying the MFA, including a way cool exihibition of Ralph Lauren's car collection. All in all, an excellent two-day getaway, and once I get the film developed, I'll post some photos.
  7. Jackson should have been required to testify. Is it unreasonable to expect that a 46 year old man who sleeps with young boys should be asked to explain such behaviour? ← This is a joke, right? Or are you just completely unfamiliar with the Bill of Rights?
  8. You've got to be kidding, Stefan. The thread is NOT about the music played on the tour and subsequently traded as private recordings. Its about the music put out on the Verve CD in question. Stereojack has heard the CD. YOU HAVE NOT.
  9. Stop the presses, but I agree with Johnny. When the family uses and abuses the legal system in highly questionable ways, it brings up serious chances for reasonable doubt to exist. That and the fact that you've got the kid denying things vehemently at one point and then changing his attitude. While I have no doubt whatsoever that MJ is a child molester, I have reasonable doubt, or at least can understand, a verdict of not guilty in this case. And Rooster, of course if Michael Jackson weren't a celebrity, no one would give a rat's ass about this verdict. But he is, and he's someone the world has watched since he was five years old, and has watched him become weirder and weirder. Of course there is fascination and interest in the outcome of this case. THAT's why it merits the attention its gotten. Or at least 50% of the attention its received ... the other 50% is purely a function of all-news channels and 24 hours of airtime to fill.
  10. Yeah, the problem is, he's pretty hot right now. I wanted to see him play, not beat us!
  11. Welcome to the shit-world of boxing. That's one reason why I can't stand watching it. The other reason I avoid it, is due to the brutality. ← Learning your trade on the streets just doesn't cut it in the long run. ← What a TOTAL crock of shit this is. Mike Tyson became a champion because of CUS D'MATO, not "learning his trade on the streets". And D'MATO taught Tyson well, including excellent defensive skills with steady, effective head movement. It was Tyson who lost these skills, initially because they no longer seemed necessary when opponents were in fact psyched out before the bell rang, and then time and age took care of the rest of his skills.
  12. OK. Tyson is not a simpleton, he's just not well-educated in a formal sense or especially well-spoken. But he's not stupid and he's not uninformed.
  13. This thread gives me a reason to mention that I finally got a chance to listen to his newest CD: http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/dr...g38226d6i1l.jpg And its a doozy, as was discussed here when it first came out (For shame, I've had this since Christmas and only gave it a listen in the last month or so).
  14. I cannot possibly imagine that they will sleep on this, unless Uptown has no budget whatsoever for reviewer copies.
  15. Well, the revolution was in full swing - I don't think they had any hope of fully appreciating the moment as we do, with 60 years of hindsight. The other thing I notice is how much of the negativity goes to the organization/execution of the concert, the problem of no-shows, not so much as a musical failure. But they could have taken closer note of what Diz-Bird and co. were laying down.
  16. OK, I've just given a listen, and I have to quote from Jim's original post: Even without the historical significance of the recording, this is an amazing record and hands down the most important "new" issue in many, many a moon.
  17. Glad to hear that the Groove is going to stock these - I think I will signup for email notification - maybe if they get enough emails they'll be sure to order plenty. I'd hate if this comes in one at a time and I never manage to snag it.
  18. For that matter, with Catesta's impending nomadic existence, is he going to be ready for an August BFT?
  19. Got mine today, hope to listen tomorrow. Thanks Chuck.
  20. Clearly, Chris, the government is aware of your political views and they've got their collective eye on you.
  21. still does that from where I am sitting ← Yes, but there are no links to the albums ... or at least the links don't work for me.
  22. As far as sideman appearances go, in the discography page, there is a "credits" tab that gives that info. I did do the free signup, maybe that's why I get that link? My one major gripe is the fact that searching for "Song" doesn't give you any useful info. It used to be that you'd get a list of albums that a particular song appears on, and you could click on whatever album you were looking for. Now, it doesn't give you that option, so I don't know what the point of searching by "Song" would be. I'm not quite as negative on the revamp as most people, maybe I've just gotten used to it now, but it doesn't seem particularly slow anymore, and otherwise, you can still find your bios and album reviews. I've never trusted their discographical stuff, so who cares if its their or not, correct or not? Its just as likely to be incorrect, so I ignore whatever it says.
  23. Clearly there's some sort of glitch in how Marty's accessing the site or how it displays to him. I have no problem seeing JPEGs of album covers either. Maybe AMG likes Delray Beach but Boynton Beach ... not so much.
  24. How's Carmell Jones on this? I do dig him and he didn't record all that often ...
  25. This answers half of my question. (Though I assume this goes only for the sets licensed from Sony, Verve or Warner -- wouldn't EMI/BN let them do infinite reprints?) ← What part of do you not understand? Its all very straightforward, and your questions are not even interesting from an egghead perspective. Reread BFrank's post as well as the number of posters who point out that Mosaic is not in the business of gouging prices for the greatest possible profit. And this doesn't even make a whit of sense: None of the money that goes to speculators would be effected in the least. The money that goes to speculators is due to the limiting factor of the lease arrangements. Once a set goes out of print, the money going to speculators is a function of demand for a scarce product. That demand, and the resultant price, has no theoretical, practical or remotely plausible relationship to what the price was when it was in print and readily available. (edit): Furthermore, the number of people who buy the set from Mosaic is the same, regardless of the price that Mosaic charges. Therefore, the price (demand) for the now OOP box, and the amount of money "speculators" receive is entirely dependent on the number of people interested in the set in excess of the number that Mosaic sold, and what they are willing to pay to secure it. Hasn't a thing to do with the price Mosaic charges while the set is available.
