  1. Since he is a newbie, my "more surly" approach just might make him do something, like get his friend to respond to you. He may not know yet how gently ebay treats deadbeats.
  2. Hey David, If the material is "unreleased," do you have any concern about clearance for the material?
  3. My number one advice is to remind the bidder that he is legally responsible for payment of the purchase price, and that you will pursue all legal remedies available. That might get his attention. If it doesn't, you need to wait thirty days (I think) and then file a non-payment complaint with ebay. They won't really do anything, but its the only thing you can do. One question, does this bidder have a lot of feedback? Is he the guy who uses ebay a lot, and just did his friend a favor? It might be nice if he had to start a new account because ebay suspends him.
  4. While I may be wrong, I believe in an episode of Cheers, John Cleese plays a marriage counselor who has a session with Sam and Diane, and when Diane gushes, "You are the smartest man I know!" he replies, "Faint praise, indeed!"
  5. Thanks for hipping me to this, Tony. McIntosh added some nice tunes to the Jazztet's book, if I'm not mistaken. Good to see a date like this, I'll have to look for it.
  6. I thought it had been established that they do not ship sets sequentially, its whatever box gets pulled when they receive the order.
  7. Sending email!
  8. That's funny-in South Florida the highway information system is used for Amber Alerts. I have no idea if its saved anyone yet or not ...
  9. Lord knows I'd rather be associated with Mike Fitzgerald and this site than AAJ.
  10. OH, sure, thanks ever so much. You just had to share that, didn't you???
  11. I'm shocked, shocked, I say!
  12. Good choice, Evan.
  13. Sorry Shrdlu, but I think that for whatever reason, (and please note, Chris, that the phrase "bitter old man" is not being bandied about) Chris feels a need to be what he considers a truth-teller when it comes to Keepnews and Grauer. In Chris' view, Orrin was mostly in charge of the stop-watch, that was the extent of his "producing".
  14. What tune's opening notes put the biggest charge into you? So What? 'A' Train? Take Five? What familiar theme thrills you beyond compare? I thought of this as I was listening to a rare Bird recording from Montreal, and that triggers my vote: "Now's The Time"
  15. Can't take credit for NMCOT but I'll definitely lay claim to DKDC.
  16. Coincidentally, I just gave my first listen to the Mulgrew record-I picked it up when Borders was running the 25% off any CD coupon but hadn't had a chance to listen til now. Very good, as Joe says. Definitely one to seek out.
  17. What jlhoots said. Great album, too short. Which was a more auspicious debut, Hank's ten inch BN or Griff's Argo? That is a very tough call.
  18. Well, no one can accuse former Red Sox manager and Red Sox Nation Pariah Grady Little of not having a sense of humor about his ill-fated trip to the mound to relieve (or not) Pedro Martinez last October. It seems that the Brockton Rox, an Independent League team, wanted to have some fun with a unique Bobble-Head doll in Grady's honor. But not a bobble-HEAD, a bobble-ARM, as in, the left arm that Grady should have raised, signalling for a lefty when he came to the mound. However, it was reported originally, that Grady wasn't too thrilled, and the team cancelled the promotion. However, Grady has now approved sale of the 1000 dolls that were made, provided that the proceeds benefit a charity that helps old baseball scouts. But I am so disappointed: Sales on the website started today, and its already listed as unavailable. They also planned to sell at the ballpark, and over the phone, starting tomorrow. I wonder if the web sold out of every doll, or did they only allow a certain number to be sold? Man, now the only way to get one of these will be on ebay, and the price will be astronomical!
  19. Anyone else notice that Soul Sauce became Soul Source?
  20. Look at the second post:
  21. Well I'm glad my poll was taken in the spirit in which it was intended. Joe, I think your lyric mistake was at least as bad as mine!
  22. This one had "Heard it in a Love Song"-another big hit was "Can't You See".
  23. By the way, write in votes are encouraged.
  24. Yes, I am going for silliest poll.
  25. Inspired by hearing Marshall Tucker Band's big hit, "Heard it in a Love Song" (full, embarassing disclosure: for years, I thought the refrain in this tune was "Purty little love song" B) )
