  1. I’m in the US. Not freaking out about it lol I’m sure it will work eventually, somehow
  2. To me it’s similar to Seinfeld in that the early eps have their moments but the sweet spot had to develop. But if you’re a fan, then they’re all good.
  3. Shopping… Yep Roc records with a 10% discount code for bandcamp: UNCUTMAG not Jazz centric but I know interests vary here
  4. I can’t get these we transfer files to play with sound, even after downloading. Weird
  5. Bandcamp Friday is today 🍻
  6. Early episodes of Curb don’t hold up as well. If you start that show, I recommend the season where he starts out wearing the maga hat. I became reacquainted with Richard Lewis via Curb and am glad that happened. I was too young to appreciate him in the 80s and 90s. RIP
  7. Not many, and dare I say that the vocal tracks work - this coming from someone who doesn’t always enjoy jazz vocals.
  8. I'm on it. I got his Jazz Dance Suites a couple of years ago and it was a great album. His playing certainly remains top notch. I just saw where he played at the Kennedy Center in 2022 for the Mingus tribute. He should be one of the next honorees IMO.
  9. Dub Modal track: Track 4: The Count On Rush Street with Conte Candoli (tp), Art Pepper (as), Bob Cooper (ts), Shelley Manne (d), Bill Russo (tb, composer), Gene Esposito (p), Don Bagley (b); recorded 11/12/51 This is from the Savoy compilation CD Deep People that includes the original album ID'd by @JSngry in the thread. As noted, sound quality on this recording isn't great but I really like the playing and the composition. It was Pepper's solo that first caught my ear after a few times listening and made me sit up and really pay attention. Anyway, glad I included it b/c as mentioned in the main thread, the "Count" in this case is Conte which I didn't know, thinking it was a reference to Count Basie. This one got good remarks from most everyone and I'm glad you all enjoyed it. Thanks @Dan Gould for putting this very cool anniversary BFT idea together. Honored to create a this compilation with all contributors. BFTs are always a good way to experience some new music. Glad you put this track in here. Definitely love some UK jazz. Seems like really fertile ground in that scene these days and for the past few years really. This one's on my radar now. I would never have picked your track as being recorded in the 90s. Wow. I missed which track you selected though...which one was it?
  10. Did we discuss how we want to do the reveal? Guessing that will be posted tomorrow.

    Anthony Braxton

Thanks for the link. Definitely intrigued.
  12. I had the same sentiment on the sound quality when I first listened to this. I didn’t revisit it for a long time bc of that actually. Thought about getting rid of it too. Then at some point, it clicked for me. Jim ID’d the record it came from, but this is from the CD. No idea if the LP would sound better. All I can say is I’m glad I gave it multiple listens. Definitely wish someone would clean it up - if that’s even possible. Trumpet is Candoli btw. Alto is Pepper and tenor is Bob Cooper.
  13. lol don’t get me started on the NC Symphony
  14. Looks like the North Carolina Symphony didn’t get the memo https://www.ncsymphony.org/events/540/rhapsody-in-blue/
  15. The Chet Baker/Jack Sheldon seems like an odd choice. I guess Chet sells...? I noticed other records with these guys included a big band with Land, Pepper, etc. which seemed way more intriguing.
  16. This is a pretty good RSD for jazz fans.
  17. Knock $100 off if you’re a member. I won’t be buying it but I do wish that liners/additional writings would be sold separately.
  18. Didn’t know that. I was thinking the Count reference was a nod to Basie. Glad to know the actual details. Discogs doesn’t list other recordings of this song unless I’m missing it.
  19. There ‘tis
  20. Thanks for all you do. Sorry you’re having to deal with this kind of thing.
  21. Error here as well. Tagging @tkeith
  22. This is the La Roca/Grimes trio correct?
  23. Are we talking ads vs no ads type of tiers or something different? Seems like certain content could be free while others would be paid subs.
  24. IDK but someone needs to edit them together because that would be hilarious
  25. Interesting convo about this re modern remastering choices and preferences vs original intent. This can’t be the only note or song affected.
