  1. I didn’t realize they had been acquired by Sapporo. At that point they’re just a part of a portfolio.
  2. Indeed. This is great news!
  3. That’s really not true at all.
  4. Hoffman is good for the classifieds.

    Samara Joy

It was awesome when she won that Grammy for best female vocalist.
  6. IPAs don’t dominate every local market but they are prevalent.
  7. Sad. They had a great product. But that doesn’t matter in the beer industry. Nasty business run by what is essentially a cartel.
  8. It is a huge hit. Every time I hear this new version I think about how much better the original is.
  9. Awesome. An answer to the question about what a professional musician would put in their man cave. I immediately thought about the original Time Machine movie here. Tinkerer extraordinaire.
  10. It’s an interesting POV, not sure I agree. By referencing high school level playing, it seems there should be some links to that demo of players if existent for comparison, preferably those that are serious (but not necessarily virtuoso) . I think Halvorson is well beyond that level but I don’t listen to high schoolers.
  11. This is a random thought but the discussion on pre-blues made me think of how that Mississippi Delta area spent centuries under French and Spanish control prior to the La purchase. Mixed in there would be significant Indigenous influence, African slaves and their descendants along other immigrant populations that fed into music from that region. I’m sure there’s been some serious scholarship on this topic… but also, what JSngry said 👍
  12. The Razor and Tie sets 🙃 Yeah, need that bill that forces these companies to pay consumers for the data they monetize to happen at some point. Will be shocked if it ever happens though.
  13. Oh man, a deep dive into his catalog is what I need. Prob not this week but in the near future. I don't have a lot of his albums - maybe even just the Golden Circle set...I'll have to check. I definitely enjoy those btw. Reminds me of a record store visit I had a few years ago. Another customer brought up the Shape Of Jazz to Come for purchase and the store owner said, "Great album! The rest of his work is pure shit but this is a great one. Nice choice!" I laughed. That store owner is a dick btw. Golden Circle though. You don't like those?
  14. VMP would sell out of a vinyl set of this in pre-order. They'd use original album art as well.
  15. I picked up Standards a couple of years ago and it wasn’t easy to find then. Kind of a weird choice for Mosaic but it’s their business. Glad some are preordering.
  16. What is the goal of this critique? Is it a plea for players to create a new style, or to revert to older styles of expression and playing? Or for a hybrid of sorts?
  17. ok, I have those then. Sweet! I’ll pass on this set then. I agree with this post too. I dig that Time album and always thought he does sound a bit Bud-ish on this one.
  18. The Quintets album is one I don't have in this bunch. Japan only for all prior releases which is interesting. Why is that? Does anyone know? Also titled Cool Struttin' Vol 2. Kind of an oddity it seems.
  19. Nice! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
  20. Thanks @webbcity And the Le Rex album is $5 this weekend at Bandcamp. Well worth the price. The label, Cuneiform, does a $5 album every week btw.
  21. Surround fan here and I’m not really sure why it fell out of favor overall. I’m guessing the hassle of setting up multiple speakers which could require some drilling etc to hide wires was just too much for the majority of consumers. But I don’t know for sure.
  22. Finally watched Tar. Tour de force from Blanchett. Makes me want to completely avoid classical music for a while though lol.
