  1. Thanks to Mosaic’s Mobley 60s set I got the Flip and damn, I liked it much more than I anticipated. Maybe because the title opener is a bit generic? Once that’s over though there’s some great tunes and playing. Glad you dug a couple more too, esp the first track.
  2. This music on this set looks to be outside of the Dial and Verve material. Savoy too maybe?
  3. $40 at ImportCDs right now.
  4. Hard to believe this album is almost 30 years old!
  5. Such a good album 👍
  6. Haven’t started the 2nd season yet
  7. Sticking with Wayne for a bit
  8. Mixed bag. Kali's Children No Cry is built off of Ras Michael's None a Jah Jah Children and works for the most part. You can tell it's roots reggae inspired but there's a missing ingredient that keeps the whole album from working 100%. Can't put my finger on it exactly. Moved on to: Another good one but heavy. Needed a change up so:
  9. Spent some time with Hamid Drake's Reggaeology: And now listening to: Masabumi Kikuchi Quintet's End for the Beginning
  10. Waterloo made its way to our area and it’s going to be my pool/beach side drink this year replacing beer. Definitely better than La Croix and Bubly.
  11. 👍 Totally understand work being busy. Mid-year can get pretty crazy especially when colleagues are out on vacation etc.
  12. Thanks for those that have lent an ear and shared thoughts so far. I’ll post answers next Friday so a little over a week left.
  13. Been a few today so far: Elvin Jones Is On the Mountain & It Don’t Mean a Thing Ike Quebec’s It Might as Well Be Spring Paul Motian’s Jack of Clubs
  14. Tell me about it.
  15. Great news. Been streaming for a while now and Ellington’s digital catalog on those platforms is an absolute mess. This will help at least a little bit.
  16. Ha, unlike @Gheorghe I dig this. Maybe the entire string section isn’t necessary but the sitar, guitar and tablas look to be played by guys with chops. Thanks for posting it
  17. Only a couple of the songs from this album don’t quite meet that standard. One of my favorite records from Pablo.
  18. That actually might be better without the drum track. NP: Hicks with Idris Muhammad & Walter Booker from '85.
  19. Much better. Kenny Drew with Frank Butler & Leroy Vinnegar.
  20. Bit of a snooze fest even with Cedar Walton, David Williams & Michael Carvin.
  21. Not familiar with Joel Harrison either but found this. Interesting...
