  1. Not all together wrong on that. Outside of that CJQ album I’d say overall less jazz, more r&b funk esp if compared to Strata East. Also have that 70s spiritual jazz flavor in there. I’ve found a lot to enjoy from these. I think they track close to that Ranelin/Tribe vibe.

    BFT#220

Track 1 & 11 sound like different versions of the same tune. Track 1 - Bobby Hutcherson quartet? Track 2 Marc Johnson? 9 is In a Sentimental Mood but unsure on who Great set overall!

    Frank Zappa

Damn, they sold it all lock stock and barrel. Bet they made a fortune
  4. Found it streaming. Discogs says recorded in ‘92 in NYC with George & Ed Schuller and Jack Wilkins making up the rhythm section. Laporta plays both tenor and clarinet.
  5. Y’all and your pussy pics…
  6. WP Charles Tolliver's Paper Man, NP Ted Curson's Blue Piccolo. This Curson album is from '76 with McBee, Jim McNeely and Jim McCall (Curson & the 3 Mc's?). First time I've heard this and I like it. On the Whynot label and first released in Japan. No US release until '82 on India Navigation.
  7. Listened to the Kenny Cox album today. Once I got settled in it was really enjoyable. Flows nicely with Hammond’s Reflection in the Sea of Nurnen
  8. Strangely phallic but not political. Moss was good in Shining Girls on Apple TV. Weird series but enjoyable.
  9. Thanks for this post. Never listened to most artists listed. So now playing: Recorded in '02, released in '05 with Brian Walsh, Michael Ibarra, Rich West & Noah Phillips. In line with the Carter/Bradford discussion above, track 2 "You Say" is parenthetically dedicated to Bradford.
  10. Never listened to Magic Windows before, so streaming now. Nice morning vibes
  11. Good, glad to hear he’s ok!
  12. Wonder what happened to @rostasi?
  13. Who distributes these products to US markets and do individual retailers such as DG have the ability or leverage to tell their distributors not to include certain labels? If retailers have that ability but subsequently don’t restrict them, are the margins on these products so advantageous that retailers would have a hard time not offering them?
  14. Right on That B&G track really stays with me after listening to it.
  15. I don’t have these but for t shirts I don’t want to shrink I just let them hang dry after the wash.
  16. I dig this one over Belladonna
  17. Glad you enjoyed it. I definitely rec the Pyramids album. Some really nice variation and exploration there.
  18. Anyone have that live at Birdland disc from the 90s (The Hymn) and can vouch for it? WIt’s also on Candid, apparently the only other album Terry had for that label.
  19. That reminds me of what George Clinton said about Bootsy in that he basically lived in the pocket. It was/is just part of his nature.
  20. Good info. Will check the documentary out too. Those arrangers listed, Wild Bill also shows up on a credit for one of Jacquet's 80s big band albums as do players Carmell Jones and Richard Wyands. SRoo the only outfit that has them so looks like you gotta gamble if you want to hear these.
  21. Intrigued, I looked this up and scant to no details are included about this release on discogs. Released in 06-07, was that when this was recorded? I’m also wondering who was in this band… Then I see a decent amount of albums from his big bands from the late 80s (and one from the mid-90s) exist, but on the questionable Squatty Roo label…any of those recommended?
  22. First time listening to this and wow, not in a good way. Y’all are totally right on this being subpar. Playing We Want Miles now to wash that track away
  23. Listening now...opening track ain't so bad. Those creeping 70s intros are so on point.
