  1. Great selections! I haven't heard the Ammons LP you posted last but I'm sure it's a good one.
  2. Interesting information. Thank you.
  3. Two albums I've been enjoying as well.
  4. Nice! I was tempted to say Maupin but couldn't find anything online to match.
  5. I'm on board for it. Will be interested to hear of any differences between it and the bootleg floating around. I think it was Resonance's Rollins in Holland that had some edits, making the boot still attractive despite the official release.
  6. Is it Ulrich Drecshler on clarinet for tracks 1 or 7?
  7. In light of those Mitchell recordings, how about the Muhal Richard Abrams Orchestra albums such as Rejoicing with the Light, Hearinga Suite and Blu Blu Blu?
  8. Chip is from '63 and is kind of the outlier among these as it's got Shirley Scott on B3. Bouncy beats and a different attitude from the other two. If you like B3 grooves then this would be considered a must-have. Natural and Memory are both from '64 and are solid sextet sessions that share Cranshaw on bass. Elvin is not so polyrhythmic on Mr. Natural and kind of plays it straight. Maybe that's because Barreto is there? I don't know. The track Shirley from Mr. Natural has a great vibe. I think Morgan & Turrentine play really well together on this album - doesn't really make sense that it was shelved but who knows what the deal was. Memory - Title song is pretty slow - probably too slow but otherwise it's a good record. Compositions are well put together and playing is cohesive. Niger Mambo is a short and sweet scorcher. Overall not as good as Mr Natural though.
  9. Great quintet set from '69. Got it on the Mosaic and it was one that I enjoyed immediately. Speaking of which I'm due to revisit that box soon.
  10. All Music's page on Third Stream albums: https://www.allmusic.com/style/third-stream-ma0000012292/albums I have the Giuffre Ezz-thetics CD () on that page and am familiar with all of the MJQ's they list (although it seem those albums were included simply because they're MJQ albums and not necessarily 3rd stream). I also have some albums from Ralph Towner (Solstice ) and Eberhard Weber (Silent Feet & Yellow Fields ) who are generally regarded as being 3rd Stream "influenced." They're also listing Johnny Richards and I can see that. I've got the Mosaic Select and while I barely ever listen to it, there are pockets within tunes included there that I enjoy. I wouldn't call myself a 3rd stream aficionado or fan. More of a casual...
  11. I only have these Bennie Green records: Both are great listens
  12. Interesting. Have been playing this one from Fred Anderson: No Brimfield though.
  13. Love it. He's got the glow.
  14. Archive link if any are interested and don't already have it https://metzger.media/games/wordle-archive/
  15. Play it. Usually takes me 5 tries because I’m an idiot.
  16. Queued for play after this current one.
  17. First Ignatzek for me. Based on this I’ll seek out more.
  18. From '84 but a new one for me. Really enjoying it.
  19. This morning's listen: Nice variation in styles and great playing all around.
  20. I've never heard that song before
  21. A little before my time
  22. Pop music imagery is pretty weird and mostly depressing to look at. Clearly I'm not the demo for that stable.
  23. Another guess for the 5 & 9 tenor: Dave Liebman?
