Hey does that copy of RAH have the lyrics he used on the early pressings? "I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places/Of the horses at the races......" Yes. I didn't know there was a later pressing version. It also has two recordings of My Favorite Things - one with jazz references and one without. It is a Japanese issue.

I have two autographed Al Hirt LPs, an If LP signed by Dick Morrissey and a signed Mark Murphy Rah LP. I wouldn't expect to get much for them now, but perhaps after Murphy passes the Rah will be worth something.

Have you guys heard of Luke Scott of the Orioles? I don't pay attention to baseball, and I've never heard of him, but that doesn't mean anything. Anyway, he goes off on a good rant about hunting and politics here: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Answer-Man-Luke-Scott-talks-Nugent-hunting-and?urn=mlb-292970

I learned of it the following morning. My radio alarm clock was set for radio only, and it woke me up with the CBS News. I believe that it was Morton Dean announcing, and he led off with the news that John Lennon had been shot and killed. In my semi-consciousness, my first thought was...That person has the same name as the Beatle.

June Christy's This Time of Year
GA Russell replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Recommendations
It's on my calendar. In the interim, do you guys need me to pick up anything from the supermarket while I'm out? Look! I remembered to bump this thread! I guess it's getting a little late to buy a Christmas album, but we still have almost three weeks. I got my 2011 daytimer calendar last week, so I'll make a note for next November to buy it. -
The new "Pay-It-Forward" Music Giveaway Thread!!!
GA Russell replied to Parkertown's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Would anyone be interested in samples of a coffee called Jazzman Blue Note? It is as black as can be, and it is decaf. Maybe just the thing for light night post-Christmas-party-ing! I'll be happy to stuff one into a simple envelope for all who are interested. ***** Edit: LOL I'm losing my mind! Now I see that it is not called "Blue Note" but rather "Bold Note". Oh well. -
Paps, I agree 100%. Not peeing in the punch bowl at all. However, I disagree that there are too many bowl games. Nowadays the schedules are loaded with non-conference pushovers, and the bowl games offer contests between two decent (and presumably evenly matched) teams. I would just move everything up a few days on the calendar. It's all anti-climactic after Jan. 1, so let's do it all then.
-
I don't see a thread about this year's college football, so I thought I would start one about the bowl games. The LA Times links don't carry over to here for some reason, but you can find a real good preview of all of the bowl games by entering "College Bowl Matchups" into the search box, and scroll down to the article with that title, attributed to "Tribune Newspapers". http://www.latimes.com/

Christmas Shopping for a Five Year-Old

It occurred to me a few months ago that we should have had a thread last December for the Top Ten new albums of the decade. The computer with my database is packed away, and I'd need it to review what I have opened up in the last ten (eleven) years. But since not everyone has that problem, I'll ask the group for your views. What are your Top Ten new albums released since Jan. 1, 2000?
-
It's that time of year again when we list our Top Ten new albums of the year. Thanks Kevin! That did it.

CONTEST: 2010 Grey Cup game
GA Russell replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
You're welcome Evan! I didn't know that Trestman went to law school. Where did you go? Did he graduate? -
Kevin, I get the "search" box and its arrow when I am on the Library screen, but not when I am on the Now Playing screen. The Now Playing screen is a full screen of the light show (which I can do without!). Any other suggestions?
-
Wow! wesbed, your VLC Media Player sounds like I've upgraded my speakers!
-
Welcome back wesbed! Long time no see! I'll try your suggestion. Chuck, I also use something I picked up at Walmart called PowerDVD. It seems to work well, but provides no disc information.

I find myself listening to my CDs on my computer recently. I am using Windows Media Player. 1) Is there a better free program to use to play the CDs? 2) It used to show the track list and the album cover on the right side of the screen. Yesterday I clicked on an arrow and that went away. How do I get it back to the way it was without downloading the program over again?

2005 Holiday Tunes for you!
GA Russell replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Thanks for bumping this, Jim! Have you thought about sending a copy of these tracks to Mark Ruffin at Sirius? Now that he has shown that he likes you, you might as well strike while the iron is hot! -
Here's the link to today's Grammy nominations. Jazz is categories 44-49. http://www.grammy.com/nominees?year=2010&genre=16
