Dan, In the same series, we have: Art Pepper Original Quartet 1952 ABCJ-527 which lasts 36:54 Art Pepper Inglewood Jam 1952 ABCJ-533 which lasts 34:54 Al Haig Inglewood Jam ABCJ-537 which lasts 26:10 (the champion) all with Art Pepper of course!
-
To be complete on the subject, the Norma NOCD-5662 lasts 45:07 (Long ago and far away, Here's that rainy day, Patricia & Blues for Heard), the Norma NOCD-5663 lasts 41:15 (Samba Mom-Mom, All the things you are & Star eyes). 86:52 on Norma against 67:57 on King ABCJ-548. No comment!
-
No, it lasts 67:57 (7 titles). I remember that another in this series by the same "producer" last less than 30 minutes.

Hi folks, Avoid buying the King Records(Jap)ABCJ-548 CD "Art Pepper Live in Toronto", recently issued in Japan. I don't say reissued because it's not really a reissue but rather an "amuse-gueule". This CD is a swindle because it contains 3 heavily shortened titles: Samba Mom-Mom lasts 8:28 instead of 17:35. Star Eyes lasts 5:04 instead of 12:09. A song for Richard mistitled Bit of Bernie lasts 14:01 instead of 16:43. These 3 titles were previously issued on Norma NOCD-5662 & NOCD-5663. A really good work! It seems that the producer of these very poor works knows very little about Art Pepper's work and collectors. He put already on the market several CDs more or less serious (Art Pepper Paris Live 1980 on MYCJ-30472 with 3 titles from Pasquale's, Malibu, CA, August 1978 (curious), Art Pepper London Live 1980 on MYCJ-30468 with 5 titles from Satin Doll, Kobe, Japan, March 9, 1978 (curious), etc ...), and will certainly continue to do so. Hi folks, It would seem that a Japanese producer likes to take us for idiots. He has just commercialized the following two Art Pepper CDs: Pony Canyon MYCJ-30468 "Art Pepper London live 1980" (5 titles). This CD contains in fact a live recording from March 9, 1978 at the Satin Doll Club in Kobe, Japan. The last title "This Blues of Mine" was previously titled "Kobe blues" and issued on Fresh Sound Records(Sp)FSR CD 192. Pony Canyon MYCJ-30472 "Art Pepper Paris live 1980" (6 titles). This CD contains in fact a recording made at Pasquale's, Malibu, CA, in August 1978 (3 titles were previously issued on Absord Music Japan ABCJ-371, IJA Records IJA-001 (Rehearsal Session & More), Norma(Jap)IMCD-1009. Worrying and not very professional not? If you didn't have these recordings, then you can buy these 2 CDs.
