  1. ...and yet you continue to bring up politics in other forums, in violation of our "unwritten agreement" here. Typical. no. The question was "what have you learned?". and that's one of the things I've learned. Deal with it.
  2. Since when does someone's death put a cap on telling the truth about them? I have a feeling that the reason why you are so opposed to political threads is that they generally go against your own viewpoints. how does saying "good riddance" tell a truth about someone? Show some respect is all I'm getting at. Chris, you are not always right.
  3. I've learned that a jazz discussion board has no place for political discussion-witness the disrespectful crap being spouted by johnny e about Reagan today.
  4. what?? a post from mr E without an attack on Bush?? I gotta mark this on my calendar!!
  5. so Rush is bad but Janet Jackson and whatever that rap-crap outcast is that we were subjected to a few months back are ok??
  6. I don't believe this is an actual disorder. It's a scheme by drug companies and doctors to provide another revenue stream, in the form of ADHD drugs, etc. Why can't a kid just be a kid with lots of energy?
  7. phish are just goofy anyway
  8. Where the heck is it? The box has been out for 7 months now, where is the single disc reissue?
  9. happy birthday man!!! hope to see you guys this summer!!
  10. I usually have mine within a week of placing the order. I once placed an order on a Wednesday night and had it in my mailbox the following Saturday
  11. I've always thought Chaney was our current VP
  12. Not quite done yet actually. We are under our third straight day of tornado watches, and a look at the weather radar shows a massive clump of storms heading this way from Indiana with some smaller ones coming from the northwest over Lake Michigan
  13. I am not a fan of the electric bass in jazz at all. I really enjoy that "wooden" sound of the acoustic. It always seems to fit so much better with other acoustic instruments (of course I'm talking acoustic jazz here)
  14. I'm really hoping they stay consistent with the original issues and put out the new 63-64 box with a metal spine like the others were. I much, MUCH prefer those. No problem at all with the packaging here!
  15. I have promised myself (and my wife) that I will not get these until they show up in BMG for probably under $20 each
  16. Well, if you make it here I'll be in line! I don't know if you've ever tried it but the Broken Egg, on Main St next to Kerrytown is good breakfast too. As for record shops, from my experience lately Encore (on Liberty) is just completely overrun with CDs, and customers. It's next to impossible to browse in there. Wazoo and Schoolkids (both on State) are the best shops in town currently
  17. seriously, will you be doing signings? specifically, at Borders in Ann Arbor?
  18. Corea's new trio's CD Past Present and Futures from a few years ago is very very good. Some great piano trio music. I'd have to say it rivals Now he Sings.... I wasn't expecting it to be this good but I find that I have been playing very frequently since I got it 3-4 months ago.
  19. Coltrane-Interstellar Space
  20. wow Chris that's two posts in the last couple days by you that allude to Miles and "the fellas", as it were. What are you getting at exactly? Something we should know about?
  21. I actually picked it up today-didn't buy it, just went in to bestbuy and picked it up to check out the packaging. hard to tell through the cellophane but it seems like the box is still made of metal. and, on the back where they have the Columbia marketing blurb written on the box itself, they have the date of release of the original box wrong-it says it came out in october 1999, when it was originally scheduled, but it actually came out in april 2000. funny that they couldnt get that right on the reissue!
  22. And the first edition of King Crimson did an absolutely ripping version of this same Donovan tune that is full of some great sax and guitar solos. So as silly as Donovan himself was, he contributed at least 2 great tunes to better musicians, including Mountain Jam and Get Thy Bearings
  23. Make sure you check out the bar that has 75 cent beer happy hour and bacon (yes, cooked bacon for you to eat) all night. I wish I remembered the name
  24. you could fill this list of worst songs with everything the Doors released. I think they were being generous by only singling out that pretentious piece of crap "this is the end!!!" terrible
  25. didnt tampa trade him to the cubs? from there I believe he went to the dodgers and is now hurt or just unsigned. I know as a braves fan I got tired of him popping up to the infield or hitting dribbling grounders to the second baseman
