  1. I'm late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Thanks much for your stellar contributions to the board!
  2. I don't know if he still does it, but the guy from Hallo Berlin also had a cart right near MOMA, and his sausages are GREAT!!!!!!
  3. Serioudly weird and cool-my son likes it too(He's 12)
  4. I agree that a Sabrett 'dirty water dog' is very good, but two pages, replies from present & ex-New Yorkers and nary a mention of Nathan's?!!!! I assumed that somebody had made their way to Coney Island if they ever lived in NYC-EGADS! Go to Coney Island on a summer day and get a dog at Nathan's and experience hot dog heaven(Their fries are also fantastic). So many dogs have been cooked on the grill there that each dog gets a little extra special flavoring. Combined with the sea air, you have a taste sensation worthy of the gods! It is the Olympus of dogdom, the apex of tube steaks, the pinnacle of frank culture! They are also available in supermarkets, and are very good there, but they do not compare to Nathan's at Coney Island.
  5. You can tell he's not very excited about the Queen sitting next to him
  6. Happy Birthday- are you still in Brooklyn, or has New England become the new Chez Dmitry? Either way, either place, enjoy it!
  7. A new chain- Chuck's Chicken1 Happy birthday, Ghost(and fellow Yankee fan)
  8. You should have seen him on a full moon
  9. Fer cryin' out loud, they even APOLOGIZED!!! WTF!!!
  10. Mace, I would echo what Dan suggested. When you've listened to to any of the artists you listed in your post, if anyone else(piano player, drummer, etc.) stood out to you, check out something under their name. That's how I started, I had one album, liked some players on it, which led me to their recordings, etc. It's a journey without a destination, the journey is the real fun-explore, take chances. You may not like everything you explore, but chances are you'll find lots of stuff you WILL like.
  11. I was thinking of Herb Alewife but he was hard of herring. Wasn't Herb Alife Tommy Chong's stage name?
  12. Stanley Grouch writes a twice weekly column in the NY Daily News about whatever he wants, and they are a prime example of intellectual torpor. frequently they are about whatecer event he went to last night, or his usual stuff about hiphop. They read like something he dashed together in about a half hour without any actual thought. He actually gets paid for this tripe, so he should just shut up and take the paycheck!
  13. 1972, 16years old, 'The Inner Mounting Flame' Mahavishnu Orchestra. It totally twisted my head around. Serendipitously, I was in a record store a few months later and noticed that McLaughlin was on a Miles album(Live/Evil). That lead to more Miles, Zawinul, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Jack DeJohnette, and 32 years later I still love that album and I still love jazz.
  14. I got a solicitation also- thanks for the info, Mike.
  15. HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY
  16. On the 9/25 show, Derek Trucks also quotes Rahsaan Roland Kirk's 'Volunteered Slavery'. He also plays it on his double live disc.
  17. that's what happened here, too, when I read the thread's title... RIP. Me too. My thoughts go out to Sonny.
  18. Chuck, At least let him get to a)100 posts, b)spam, or c) a totally stupid comment bfore you unload on him! WELCOME TO THE BOARD
  19. This yoyo keeps mentioning heroin and conveniently omits the fact that Coltrane recorded this AFTER he kicked heroin. Brilliant display of utter ignorance, though.
  20. I went nuts and ordered the three Atlanta shows and a six-pack that's called the pick of the litter(?) or something like that. Nine shows, about 27 discs, I'm checking the mail very carefully now!
  21. Well, this is after the fact, but I had 10 people over, and with me & my wife and our son we hit the lucky 13 diners. I started the night before, making a couple of pumpkin pies(one regular, one low carb), a cheesecake(low-carb) & a pot of tomato sauce. Thanksgiving itself was two small(10-12 lbs.) turkeys, stuffing, baked ziti(regular & low carb), sauteed mushrooms, sauteed broccoli, steamed stringbeans, green salad, cucumber salad. My wife made potato salad & raisin carrot slaw & cole slaw. A sister-in-law made macaroni & cheese & a chocolate cake and I bought a regular cheesecake, so we had no lack of desserts either. Everyone ate well and enjoyed the food a great deal and we had lot of laughs, so the time spent cooking was worth it to me. The food and the feast draws everyone in and then we can relate and enjoy everyone's company.
  22. I'll buy it- you could make it a special package with an Organissimo t-shirt added!
