  1. If nobody buys gas for one day, how do the oil companies lose billions? Do these non-buyers then forswear gas forever? If not, then they'll have to buy gas at some point.
  2. If you're not particularly specific about what Broadway show to see, you can check out the half price tickets. Here's a link: http://www.tdf.org/index_default.html
  3. Great article- thanks so much for posting it.
  4. I would prefer to be the one with the bicycle.
  5. Rooster, I've had a Samsung combo unit(I'm not at home right now so I can't tell you what model number) for about 18 months and it runs beautifully, no problems at all. I paid about $300 for it, but prices have gone down quite a bit since then and you could probably get a comparable model for less than $200 now. I record TV programs frequently(I love the Sopranos and I'm usually half-asleep by 9:00 P.M. on Sunday night, and I record cartoons for my son) and it records easily. The DVD on it is very good, too. I would heartily endorse a Samsung based on my own experience.
  6. I think the original album suffered from the same problem as I recall. I had it on vinyl when it first came out and it appears that the problem was not corrected when moving it over to disc. The softer tunes were verrrrrry soft, and volume adjustment was necessary when going from the soft stuff to the more uptempo stuff. Very good disc, some nice bone by Garnett Brown also.
  7. And I thought this was a thread on Manny Ramirez...
  8. It would be interesting to see when the clock actually started, but it does depend on someone starting the clock so there could be human error involved. The Spurs had a foul to give- if they could have fouled Fisher as he caught the ball, that would have been the game. Kudos to Fisher for making the shot, especially when he's not the guy you'd think would get the ball in that situation. I thought Kobe or Shaq all the way. What a great finish- glad I stayed up to watch the end.
  9. If you're looking for rates, just enter 'currency converter' in Google and you'll get a bunch of sites with rates. Keep in mind that the rates quoted there are for large purchases, so your actual rate may be lower. One Euro is more than a dollar.
  10. Outside of college stations, independent stations are fast going the way of the dodo bird. It's becoming more and more homogenized, to the point where soon you may be able to drive cross-country and hear the same crap from east coast to west.
  11. Both Mosaic & Hiroshi Tanno at Early Records deliver top-notch service.
  12. The recent article where the Attorney General of NY got those thieves to fork over $50 MILLION listed P. Diddy and some others that are presently on tour! AG Spitzer said something to the effect of, the music companies could just throw a check up on the stage to pay some of these people. These are the same music companies that are sooooo concerned with 'artist's rights' when it comes to downloading music. I guess their concept of 'artist's rights' ends with properly compensating them.
  13. Billups & Rashweed are both hurting.
  14. How times have changed! I'm married almost 17 years, and my wife enters the kitchen only to eat, but I usually get home before her and my son and I try to have dinner ready for when they come home. I got a good laugh about the 'Don't worry if he's late for dinner or stays out all night'-yeah right. If I stayed out all night unexpectedly it's sofa time for me, pal! 'You have no right to question him' ROTFLMAO!!!!
  15. it's about 85 and starting to get sticky-I have the feeling that we may be in for a hot & humid summer in NYC is this is any harbringer of the future.
  16. Sal, I got the set and haven't even listened to it yet, but think of it this way: if you buy the set and you really like it, you've made a great purchase and you're a happy man. If you buy the set and it's not your cup of tea, hold onto it for a few months and sell it on Ebay for a nice profit, then use the $ to buy stuff that IS your cup of tea. It's a win-win situation. Viewed another way, if you DON'T buy it, it will sell out soon, never to return, and you may find yourself on Ebay trying to snag one set at a higher price. My decision to buy the TKM set came about the exact same way as your thought process. I bought 'All Music'(That damn Nessa and his quality product ), and it struck me, and I had nothing else by Marsh and no Tristano, so I went for it.
  17. I'm going to try my best to get to the Friday, 5/28 show. I'd love to see Blood Ulmer again.
  18. I can't make it, but best of luck- hope it all goes well.
