Consider myself to be another happy customer. Greg, Jim and company put out a first class effort. Buy it!
-
It's true though. I have a dog on the route who will immediately grab the mail once I begin to place it through the slot. He's pretty harmless though and I usually have a good laugh.

I hear what you're saying. Sometimes I think the P.O. is too rigid and needs to more accommodative of there customers. In your case, you now have more of a an incentive to use other carriers instead of the Post Office. We in turn lose out on your future business. Stupid stuff.

Is this code? Maybe he provides him with a generous holiday tip. Works for me everytime.

Happy birthday, Boxcar Shorty. I mean, Paul.

Since I work at the post office, but not behind the counter(City Carrier), why were the cd's returned in the first place? Insufficient postage? Just curious.

Your most common source for music purchases?
Tom 1960 replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
The brick and mortars still get the majority of my purchases. That said, I find myself being alot more price conscious these days knowing I can get better deals off the net. Example, I had Hank Mobley's "Another Workout" and Jackie McLean's "Right Now" in my hands 2 weeks ago in a local independent shop. They wanted 14.99 a piece. I declined walking out the door sadly empty handed. -
I just found out today would have been Clifford's 76'th birthday. In honor of that, WKCR in New York is featuring nothing but Clifford Brown all day. Tune In Here!
-
For now I have Wayne Shorter's "Ju Ju" set aside for next month. Unfortunately the past several months, poor Wayne keeps getting bumped for a couple Jackie Mclean recordings. I have another Jackie release "Right Now" which could jump to the head of the line. Also there's Duke Pearson's Sweet Honey Bee, Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers, Donald Byrd's "Byrd In Hand" just to name a few.
-
God knows how many times I had this recording in my hands only to walk out with something else.
-
I received my copy of San Francisco Suite last week and have been listening to it for the past 2 nights. The title cut alone is worth the price. Of all my purchases from the Concord Blowout sale this is my favorite recording so far. Sweet stuff.

I love these- I've been using several of them in my jazz history class. They're excellent, great quality. I picked up the Quincy, Basie, Chet, Dizzy and Blakey and they are all great. I'll probably end end getting the rest. Good liner notes too! The same folks who produced the excellent American Folk Blues Festval series. I own the first 2 volumes and can't say enough great things about them.

Dan, here's a link to Amazon which features performances from other performers as well. Amazon

Well, you spent $71.82 for 9 CDs, when you could have picked up 12 CDs for $71.76, or 20 CDs for $79.60, or 30 CDs for $89.40. But leaving your financial choice aside , you picked a very nice selection. Actually Ron, when it was all said and done the total including shipping came to $62.32. Believe me, I would have loved to have bought 20 or even better 30. The problem would be explaining it to the wife when she saw me hauling in the loot.

Sorry guys. I guess it was a stupid idea. Please resume your normal programming.

Thanks for the assistance, Bright Moments. I figured there must be a thread around here already devoted to the man. Got to add his recordings to the "must have list".

Hey Jim. I'm not sure if it's possible to add another section at this point? But I was thinking? On Blindman's we have a section called 'Come and Meet The Gang'. It's pretty much a section devoted to new people who join up with the forum. It gives them the opportunity to introduce themselves to the group and gives them a feel as to how the forum works and hopefully encourages them to post on the forum. It works pretty well on our site. I'd like to hear your thoughts as well from the members here at this great forum. Just a thought...

Lee Morgan Bio and others
Tom 1960 replied to marcello's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
According to Amazon's website, the Lee Morgan bio release date is now November 30. At least for us folks in the U.S. -
I'm presently listening to the excellent series of recordings he did with Shelly Manne at the Blackhawk from 1959. His playing is really top notch on these recordings. Anyone else here an admirer of Joe's playing and willing to offer up further recordings worthy of exploring? Thanks.

I purchased Oblique a few months back. A real nice album. You wont be disappointed.
