  1. don't know how to send a PM real fast, but I would like the ECMs for sure thanks I can't seem to add a message title on the new PM screen (which blow by the way...) So when I figure that out, you'll hear from me. Sorry and please don't sell the ECMs! cheers
  2. I have seen screen shots of the overburn-damage warning on the Nero application. Could it be the same wear-and-tear issue associated with ripping DVDs. I will try it with an old outboard Que! drive tonight, I hated that overpriced POS from the day I bought it...
  3. I am trying to make a back-up copy of a commercially released CD; it's HDCD and the disk image is 802MB. I tried on a Mac and on a PC, same size disc image. When I go to burn and use a standard 800MB CDR, the image cannot be burned to disc. Has anyone come across this issue? Are CDRs > 800MB out there? If I used a DVD-R blank, would I still be making an audio "CDR"? thanks, Dan
  4. Phil Lesh, Oscar Pettiford, John Entwhistle
  5. I am looking for Brotzmann's oop Organized Chaos (Konnex), Shadows (DIY) on CD. Also hunting for Outspan and Tschus LPs. Thanks for any help/clues. Dan
  6. You mean like how will it do on ebay? And let's be specific: e.g. sealed, or with light scuffs that do not affect play.
  7. I love Jarrett's best records, I truly do. But if he and CH produce real duo sparks, I will be surprised. I don't expect to be 10% as impressed as I was by the DeJohnette & Frisell impromptu disc of a few years ago. That was a fine one from some good old ECM guys.
  8. i listened to My Favorite Things tonight, for an emotional lift. I have five of the Coltrane Atlantic titles from East-West of Japan. They all sound pretty bad, but I like the artwork on the cardboard sleeves, especially with the notes right on back. No info on the remastering though, they just indicate K2. Gotta get the old real vinyl for these.
  9. some price trimming, one addition
  10. That is amazing news, let's hope not a joke. MC told me years ago that many people had indeed asked for just such a set over the years (more accurately a Revelation + Flying Dutchman set), but the licensing was a bear, a non-starter. I am so psyched, this group's records deserve some wider recognition and the bonus material is eagerly anticipated as well.
  11. I saw a late 70s Mustang 2 on the road the other day, I pointed it out to my teenage sons. They could see the problem immediately.
  12. some price trimming, incl. Plugged Nickel below Mendoza line
  13. I don't know if Thorens has really been in business continously or not all these years, but I would try for an OEM belt. You can ask around and find out who the Thorens distributor was back in the day, that's a good place to begin asking. In the late 90s, I had to look far and wide to find THE guy, who sold remainder stock out of his Queens apartment.
  14. Can only be done at the AT&T counter? I don't use an iphone, but if i could split my account usage and do the SIM swap myself, between my blackberry and an iphone, I would consider it. I have to use a blackberry for compliance at my job. But I would most often rather use a snappy wifi enabled device, especially on weekends.
  15. Get comfortable with your own monetization plan -- how much do you need asap, and what has the ability to bring about a fast sale (good OOP box sets, limited edition discs, notable masterings). For the rest, it looks like amazon marketplace at set-sale prices is the way to go. The seller gets a big (biggest?) audience and can see the pricing queue; you price according to your plan in terms of your patience or desperation. I have sold a load of stuff here on the board the past few years, sporadically and mostly using fast-sale prices and because I can control some of the timing variables. I am a little less desperate than I was a few months ago, and for the stuff that has not sold here, I will maybe cut my prices one more time and then move the load to amazon, to put it in front of more eyeballs. And I would never sell a whole collection at once except to pay off gangsters.
  16. I didn't know you could open an iPhone with anything except a saw. Fomenting a used market with an accessible SIM slot does not sound very Apple.
  17. Everything confirmed sold by 3/19 has been sent. Please check your PM inbox for any necessary details, thanks.
  18. Anybody who has dabbled in and enjoyed the early-years vault releases should pretty much flip over the this - top notch visceral grooves. What a band they were, for a time....
  19. I am a nearly everyday non-paying user of Rapidshare. You have to have a little patience and you-get-what-you-pay-for expectations, not well-known virtues of the iGeneration. If R/S is tied up, you wait. (e.g. I set a five or nine minute alarm on my blackberry, whatever it says to wait...) So what is the big deal about that? And when Europe goes to bed, it usually sizzles, that really has not changed. No corrupt files for me. Does not suck. It's a business. Can someone here explain what and why Rapidshare owes for no fee? If the price ain't right, then the price changes. I think it works great for patient and reasonable people.
  20. The OM that got away: sorry Peter, I whiffed. No OM at home or in the JRC bins.
  21. The Green Into Blue release will hopefully trigger some appearances of well-cared-for vinyl in the Just Arrived bins at my local shops. I loved this music in the late 70s, and I look forward to spending some sublime moments with it again. These will be complete re-releases of the 3 LPs, or so it appears.
  22. If i have something to sell (unusual, not rare), and I see similar items for sale ahead of me (already posted), I will indeed post early bids that will be topped, in order to set the market higher, and create buzz. On the other hand, it's always good to win great marketable stuff (even if you already own it) with ridiculous low bids, the result of under-the-radar auctions (e.g. that amazing box set you have always wanted, that neglects to include the word "Mosaic" in the description!). Been there done that too. My guess is there are many more weak auctions these days with money so scarce.
  23. additions this eve
