  1. USPS in Bloomington, Indiana is great. I hope to God it never gets privatized, because privatization in any sector of business almost inevitably is a disaster for customers, employees, and the institution that was privatized. It does tend to be great for a few wealthy corporate types, however.
  2. This very thread is what hipped me to the set in the first place!
  3. Oh man, wish I were in NYC then--I'd definitely go see him at either venue.
  4. Cool! Not sure how much of this material I have... maybe just one CD. I do have the complete Galaxy box and didn't realize that there was any overlap there with Artist House material.
  5. Frank Strozier fans would really dig this one:
  6. I’m not sure either, though if CC gets in, surely Andy Pettitte deserves to get in as well—their lifetime stats will be roughly equal (Pettite has 256 wins to CC’s current total of 251 and a 3.86 ERA compared to CC’s 3.71). And Pettitte has a fantastic post-season record too. But my sense is that starting pitchers have a higher hurdle to clear than everyday players when it comes to getting into the Hall.
  7. Oh man, I completely forgot about that weird connection! Didn’t realize he was in it till I saw the movie again at the IU Cinema a couple of years ago.
  8. Very classy move on Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s part at the All Star game, sending CC out to the mound before the final out in Cleveland: Memorable night for CC
  9. Embarrassed to admit that I’ve never read it in its entirety—an oversight I definitely need to rectify.
  10. Nice plug from Michael Cuscuna for Mark’s interview with Ethan Iverson up on the Mosaic Gazette now.
  11. My dad is a big fan of Grand Prix as well. I've never actually seen it, but he would always watch it whenever it turned up on our local TV stations in the 1970s.
  12. Many thanks--ordered the Circle CD from Amazon, which had it on sale as a $2.98 add-on item.
  13. Bumping because I’ve been revisiting the Lunceford Mosaic set. God, what a gorgeous-sounding band! How much more material is there from the Columbia era, beyond the one-disc compilation that Sony Legacy put out a few years ago?
  14. Hadn't listened to this since I was a kid until a week ago or so--it's very well-sequenced, actually. Weirdly enough now seems like a "lost" early-1966 Beatles album to me, what with the UK discography having been the mainstream set of referents for the past 30 years or so:
  15. Nearly halfway through season 2 of The Man In The High Castle. Very compelling, expansive adaptation of Dick’s novel, and visually stunning—they do a great job of creating an alternative 1962. Two of the main characters—Frank and Juliana—can be annoying at times, but in general I’m really hooked on the show. I gather the final season will be dropping sometime this autumn.
  16. Steeplechase order just arrived! 🎉
  17. Starting to revisit the Lunceford set this morning:
