  1. There is a section in the introduction that invites artists to opt out if they choose. The first random musician I selected had apparently taken them up on the offer. There was writeup on the fellow, but no music.
  2. This is an unbelievable resource! Thank you for posting the link.
  3. He was pretty much right under the basket when he passed the ball out to the perimeter for a 3-pointer (which they didn't need). Curious decision.
  4. Mine are as follows. I welcome suggestions from those who already have some or all of these as to which should zoom to the top of the list. I'm leaning right now toward the Parker or Gillespie, but I could easily go for any one of these. I realize some of these are on back order, but I'll probably only get one or two of them this year and can wait, so that's not an issue, really. Charlie Parker -- Complete Benedetti Recordings Dizzie Gillespie -- Verve-Philips Small Group Sessions Chu Berry -- Columbia and Victor Sessions Count Basie -- Clef-Verve Fifties Studio Recordings Bennie Goodman -- Columbia and Oheh Orchestra Sessions
  5. Yep. I was sickened, too. But Vick has paid/is paying his debt and should be allowed to resume his NFL career. He is also making some overtures to the humane society about starting an outreach effort to inner city kids about evils/perils of dog fighting. ... In any case, he's done his time. I'll be rooting for him. What happened to the dogs, btw? I remember reading that most (if not all) were taken to rescue facilities to live out their lives.
  6. Thanks for posting this. I'm at work now, but will give a listen when I get home. ... not that I'm anywhere near Portland, mind you. Nonetheless ...
  7. Braun was playing some defense tonight, judging from the highlights. Rays SS Bartlett is now hitting .384 after going 3-for-3 with a walk tonight against the A's, who look like they have some major problems. Rays back at .500 on the season. Oakland, Florida, Cleveland and Minnesota fill out their dance card for the rest of May.
  8. Good luck. Hope to see you around again in the not-too-distant future. Enjoy!
  9. I'm on board with this one. It's on the way. Warne Marsh -- "Ne Plus Ultra"
  10. So you're still kind of weighing the pros and cons here?
  11. Well, I know the Phillies won the WS and then JC Romero got a 50-day suspension under the drug testing policy. I guess the Rays should be crowned champs! Or at least we should replay the third and final games of the series. Course, we'd have to restore the lineups to what they were last season, and that means Burrell back to the Phillies. But he might sabotage the whole thing cause now he's with the Rays. But he'd sacrifice his ring if he did that, so probably not. But then would the Rays want him? Hard to say. And if they did, would Maddon remember to put his name on the lineup card? This is a real can o' worms man.
  12. Who the heck are Madden and LaRussia? I meant Joe Maddon & Tony La Russa. Since I'm such a terrible speller, I usually check on the ESPN website to spell names. This time, to no one's surprise, I didn't. S-Ok. Just funnin' ya.
  13. Who the heck are Madden and LaRussia?
  14. He's just getting ready for interleague play. I picked up the game in the fourth inning on TV and was half watching when Sonnanstine came to the plate. Couldn't believe my eyes. Maddon can be a little too laid back sometimes, I think. Exhibit A today. On highlights of the game, Longoria looked like he got in a little snit over it when the error was discovered, making a point of stomping off into the clubhouse to put on a pullover jacket and looking none too pleased about the proceedings. But the dugout was all giggles again after Sonnanstine got his RBI double. I'm sure Maddon felt like an idiot.
  15. Rays are trying a little NL ball today. Lineup snafu and starting pitcher Sonnenstine hits in the 3-hole. Got a double and an RBI, too!
  16. I have to say, if I were a kitty, that would look almost too inviting!
  17. Percival's a POS. The only reason to refer to him a "closer" can only be that as soon as he comes in, the other team gets closer ... and closer, and closer. Enough!
  18. Scary stuff going on in Baltimore: O's 6, Rays 5, bottom of the second inning.
  19. damn. I was just gonna start watching that one.
  20. I believe it starts in high school.
  21. ^ I think that Woody Allen made that into a film.
  22. Watched the 8th and top of the 9th. Papelbon looked shaky walking Aki, then the bad throw to first, then giving up the hit to Bartlett, but it was like he flipped a switch after that and nothing was hittable. I think Maddon might have been looking down the road a bit by sticking with Upton in that situation, trying to give the guy some confidence. He looked over-matched. I don't know who was available, but I sure wasn't excited to see him coming up.
  23. Is there really "no" evidence Bonds did?
