  1. Ms. Jolie is certainly no slouch in the looks department, and she might be very weird but in a very cool kind of way- she got some substance going on there. Yeah. The ink's kind of creepy though, IMO. And in her public persona, anyways, she seems a little ... intense.
  2. Yeah, brother.
  3. Brad Pitt's a moron. LINK Partial nudity.
  4. Edwin Jackson for Matt Joyce. Olney seems to think with Price ready to go into the starting rotation, the Rays unloaded an inconsistent pitcher just before his salary triggers kicked in and got a good player in return on the cheap, and that the move frees them up to grab a big name bat in a short-term deal. Thoughts?
  5. I'm reading this stuff about this Schaap chap and so pulled out my copy of the CD and found it was "restored" and "premastered" by a Bjorn Almstedt using the same CEDAR software Allen uses and issued in 2006 on the Jasmine label -- after this thread had been put to bed. It sounds great to me, but I was wondering if Allen (or anyone else) had you heard this version, and if so what are your thoughts?
  6. Weighing this one. There are some rather critical reviews at Mosaic from completest buyers. (Some one and two stars!) Perhaps the alternate takes could have been cut back to make room for more material? Regardless, it looks terrific.
  7. "The Young Benny Goodman 1928-1931" (Timeless Holland)
  8. I did see that as well. I didn't know that the second dog hadn't been found.
  9. Duke Ellington: 1936-40 Small Group Sessions (Disc V)
  10. Happy birthday. Enjoy!!
  11. I just ordered your No. 3.
  12. Complete H.R.S. ... a gem, this one.
  13. Yes. Most club dates I've been to (admittedly, not a lot, but still ...) bears this out. EDIT: Wait a minute!! They're out at the clubs while we're in here typing.
  14. Very exciting. Congratulations. Will check it out.
  15. William Parker Quartet -- "Petit Oiseau" Oh, and MG's Lester Young Keynote disc, too!
  16. I remember the night well. Howard Cosell told me. It was one of those moments that took a while to get my head around. Just a senseless tragedy.
  17. I'm getting the idea that if zanonesdelpueblo can simply talk S.O. into a series of extraordinary sexual gymnastics, problem solved! Jazz .... ... what jazz?
  18. I only have a handful, so this is relatively easy for me: Ellington 36-40 Small Group Sessions Hodges Small Groups 56-61 Complete H.R.S. (a certain theme to those three) ... with the obligatory caveat that the Lester Young-Basie is on the way, and is certain to jump onto the list.
  19. Assuming it'll be Gators-Sooners, should be a great game. There'll be a lot of factors involved in trying to break this one down, but one big one will be whether the Sooners can move on offense they way they're used to doing against the Florida defense. To win, the Gators D has to get Oklahoma out of their comfort zone and force some mistakes. Florida should be able to put up some points against the Sooner defense. Penn State-USC in the Rose should be another great game. ESPN's projecting a Texas-Ohio State matchup somewhere. That could be a good one as well.
  20. Mmm. Going through a bit of a Prez phase here. Just got the Aladdin. Thanks for your thoughts on this one MG!
  21. Football players generally have had shorter than average lifespans, I believe. He's 61 now. Nine years takes him to 70. The less-than optimal living conditions in prison will likely have a further negative effect on his lifespan. He very well may spend the rest of his days in prison.
  22. Fireball XL5! Hah. Now there's a blast from the past.
  23. Music will get you through times with no women, better than women will get you through times with no pot ... I mean music!
  24. Rundgren (who, btw, produced Hall and Oates and one point). That overproduced, wall-of-sound singles sound, ala Phil Spector. You know the tunes: "Oh, Baby Baby," "Hello It's Me," "Just One Victory." An endless series of psychedelic torch songs and anthems.
  25. Funny, a lot of the instruments mentioned here are interesting to me. If there were band with tuba, violin, bass clarinet, soprano sax, accordion and harmonica, I'd be curious enough based on the instrumentation alone to want to listen to it.
