Don't know about Brubeck but it was fairly common in the 50/60s for original US liner notes to be replaced replaced by notes by an English writer. Benny Green's note to Kind of Blue is one example.
I wont be going, partly because the older I get the less inclined I am to make the trip. I'm sorry to miss David Murray but I've seen the Gwo-Ka band several times and it's not my favourite Murray platform.
I passed on the opportunity to sample snake wine when I was in China last year. Basically four dead snakes at the bottom of a gallon jar full of clear liquor.
A nice guy, I met him a few years back when we booked him at our club and he kindly signed the booklet to the Tal Farlow Mosaic for me.
My guess is that he can play more or less anything but he prefers to work in a mostly mainstream-ish style.
