Thanks for that Flurin, add it now for the current week (12/8). I've PM'd you. Queuing is nothing to do with Britishness in this instance, when the thread was more popular it was just to keep some sort of order!
  2. Thanks for the update Flurin - I've got the Miles on pre-order. One to look forward to.
  3. That's Definitive, not Gambit - not that this makes a major difference ... Odd, mine's definitely on Gambit, same catalogue number though.

Three replies from the above appeal. Any more?
  5. The All Night Session is pretty good byt for me the best Hawes are the first three trio albums on Contemporary, also on nicely collected on a Gambit 2cd. Northern Windows, not awful just tame and dreary.

No choices made for the last two or three weeks. I'm happy to keep updating the topics but I'd be happier adding some names rather than entering 'no choice'. If you want to keep this going let's have your suggestions. You know the drill just PM me and I'll slot you in.
  7. My Amazon UK order still shows as expected in August. As it's been put back several times already I'm not expecting it in the very near future.
  8. Another shock. Just a shade older than me! I heard Paul frequently in his early years along with John Stevens and Trevor Watts, it was a fabulous time for jazz in London. Later my tastes changed so I only kept up with his work through reviews and the like. Nevertheless like John before him, he will be sadly missed.
  9. Sad, I was only playing 'A Groovy Situation' yesterday.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly.
  11. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. It's had a lot of plays.
  12. Happy Birthday Lon.
  13. I have a rather poor European vinyl pressing of this. I've never really enjoyed the music.
  14. Donald Byrd; Byrd's Eye View Sun Ra; Heliocentric Worlds Vol 1 Archie Shepp; Four For Trane Cecil Taylor; Air David Murray; Flowers For Albert These are the really important ones that opened my ears. Near misses are Mingus Ah Um; Bird and Diz- Quintet of the Year; MIles Davis -Milestones and Tadd Dameron's Mating Call.
  15. wasnt that a koto, on sahara? I'm sure you are right - old age strikes again.
  16. Up, someone must have something to say about Enrico Rava!
  17. Didn't McCoy Tyner use a dulcimer as an intro on a track on one of his Milestone albums? Codona also featured a dulcimer.
  18. The Hungarian tenor player Mihaly Dresch uses a cimbalom in his quintet. The quintet mixes jazz with folk elements but the cimbalom which is very similar to the dulcimer makes a very attractive sound.
  19. Happy Birthday!!
  20. Intersting issue - I imagine there are sound quality issues here.
  21. This is fine music. I seem to remember that Vol 3 is not by the DG big band - local musicians perhaps - but I'm open to correction.
  22. Seems to have had more UK coverage this year in the UK or maybe I'm just more aware of the tour because of the UK start. Got to admit it's very intersting, not sure I get the tactics yet. I also found the various Olympic cycling events very entertaining too.
  23. Happy Birthday Guy, have a great day.
  24. Out soon on RLR - George Russell, Things New - Unissued Concerts 1960 & 1964. Accortrding to Amazon these are sextet recordings. Anything known.
