  1. Twenty-seven simolians (dollars) for the Salvador? Just not fair!! You're tellin' me! I want the Salvador for $11.98 or I'm not payin'
  2. I'm a pretty slow typer, Chuck beat me to it
  3. I have a printed list of the K2's. . Give me some time and I'll type it in...
  4. For me this is prime Chet. Sold my copy of Grey December for the excellent PJ reissue of this material a few years back, which is now spread over two cd's if I recall.
  5. That and the fact that the general consensus is that the Prestige K2's absolutely smoke the RVG's. Exactly!
  6. The pattern I've generally noticed is that the RVG's are slowly replacing all of the K2 prestiges and that's why I'm a little irritated and nonplussed with this series. There is no way I'm replacing a K2, which back in the day was around the $14-16 range for an RVG. I've invested too much money in the K2s to go back and upgrade, if that's what you want to call it. The only RVG's I own are the ones that were either not a K2 or I never owned before, e.g., the RRK, Mating Call, We Three, etc. Otherwise, this is a pretty boring reissue program IMOP.
  7. Seattle's Best Columbian Ground Coffee
  8. The Contemporary K2's had excellent sound as well as the Fantasy K2's, but that seems to be the only cd remastering of this material, and those reissues are now long OOP. It'd be nice to revive this part of the catalog as there is a ton of excellent material there. Like why not start the Lester Koenig Collection or something like that . edit to say remastering of the cd remasters already available -_-
  9. Just won Bill Perkins-On Stage on Ebay for $7.99.
  10. Well I've really been on a WCC kick, after snagging Katanga! and Jack Montrose Sextet this year so far, so I've decided to try and complete the series (sounds compulsive, huh?). So I bid and won on Ebay, Bill Perkin's 'On Stage' for $7.99 (w/ shipping 11.98!). As soon as it comes in, which should be a day or two, I'll share my thoughts on it. Now only four more to go Now only if the 10inch Conns were so cheap (just watched McGhee vol 2 on Ebay go for $40 and the Salvador go for $27...sigh)
  11. Sandwich night and soup: roasted turkey, ham, tomato, lettuce and beef vegatable soup -_-
  12. Just saw the news on line. I grew up watching The Carol Burnett Show and always found Korman and Tim Conway to be absolutely hysterical. The mail room skit was one of my favorites and I think they re-did it recently on The Jay Leno Show and it was just as funny. Korman/Conway was one of the best comedy teams around. RIP
  13. Here's more on Sweet Rain: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...getz+sweet+rain
  14. The 1983 American issue does not have any bonus tracks. Don't know about the Japanese issue.
  15. Aw Comon' Another great one gone!
  16. Kept all of my K2's and have no desire nor reason to upgrade them. This was one of the best reissue series hands down, cut short with the purchase of Fantasy. Too bad. These were consisitently high quality sounding cd's.
  17. Little late to the party
  18. I wish there was more to report, but in the future there will be. Your words of welcome are appreciated. I couldn't find a thread on George Lewis' book quickly, and just thought I'd mention it. Welcome to the board ATR! Here's the discussion on G. Lewis' AACM book. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=1432
  19. Yeah - I once wrote a whole arrangement around that vamp for a trio I played in. Listening to that 'vamp' right now as I write this. I'm no bossa nova connoisseur, but I think Jazz Samba is a pretty good album and Charlie Byrd captures in my opinion, the bossa nova mood here. I probably would choose this album as my favorite out of all the bossa discs Stan cut throughout his career.
  20. Still in the 60's. I could dig this kind of weather all summer.
  21. I gave Blowin' Country a spin again this morning and I agree that its not the cream of the crop (out of the ones I've heard so far) but overall its not bad either. I bought this one about four years ago and I've played it maybe on average once a year. I think though that the first date on the disk is slightly better than the second (the bonus tracks 12-5 from '56), which seems to drag on a bit. I've also noticed something peculiar about the cd spines. It seems that most of the spines are printed on white paper with black lettering but the Chet Baker spine is printed on black paper with white lettering. Doesn't it seem strange that they would print one spine in black and the others white?
