  1. I'm a sucker for Axelrodian production, and Dusty Groove reviews too.
  2. That's KC of KC & The Sunshine Band.
  3. The plans are dollar amounts now, colinmce. I'm canceling, since I can order virtually as many physical CDs as my ration of downloads will afford at this point. It was fun while it lasted.
  4. So long, Officer Hightower. 66 is too young.
  5. All-time favorite: 31 Flavors' Gold Medal Ribbon (chocolate and vanilla ice cream with a caramel swirl). Mint chip. Pralines and cream is the goods, I must agree, DJ. Some of these new concoctions are insanely good, like Moose Tracks or anything with crumbled Heath Bar.
  6. I might have known you were kidding, Jim, except I'm a little rough around the edges this morning. Did he write the Les McCann/Eddie Harris jam?
  7. Well, Eugene had some tunes I like so I thought he deserved a thread on this here music forum. I've done nothing, so I guess I'm as good as dead.
  8. Singer/songwriter Eugene McDaniels passes. I dig his stuff. RIP Eugene, and thank you.
  9. Wow, what an anomaly. Imagine the circumstances which might have led to its creation!
  10. Sounds like what the Raiders had last season in Jason Campbell, ChitownExpat. Campbell's a standup guy, very classy. He just isn't all that good.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsGK9u5dp2g RIP, and thanks Mr. Foster.

    BFT 87 Reveal

Enjoying this BFT again today, thanks Joe. "Armageddon" is one of my favorite Wayne Shorter tunes.
  13. It's a comm0on-sense attitude like that that has prevented you from getting a gig at Collectables! Those sadistic bastards create filing NIGHTMARES. The horror! The HORROR!
  14. Damn. RIP.
  15. News flash: the Dodgers stink. EDIT: Drunk post.
  16. I can tell she's not lip syncing from the first note she sings, since I know the original recording so well. I love Aretha.
  17. If I were a praying man, I'd pray the Giants never win another game.
  18. Thanks everybody! I'm compiling a list. I think the first one I'm after is And His Mother Called Him Bill, since I have read its praises sung here in various threads.
  19. I have that compilation. Good stuff. RIP, Mr. Ragogoy.
  20. Thanks Guy!
  21. Since the beginning of this thread, my Ellington section has grown to include the following: The Best Of Duke Ellington 1932-1939 (4CD) Masterpieces By Ellington Duke Ellington & His Orchestra At Newport Such Sweet Thunder Blues In Orbit Jazz Party Piano In The Background Piano In The Foreground Money Jungle Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins The Count Meets The Duke Duke Ellington & Johnny Hodges Play The Blues Back To Back Far East Suite The Reprise Studio Recordings (5CD) Ellington Uptown Black, Brown, & Beige Anatomy Of A Murder What do you all suggest I get next?
  22. Maiden Voyage is special to me since I acquired it very early in my collecting, and it didn't register with me at first. I bought it hoping it was like Headhunters, and when it didn't have that same electric funk vibe I was disappointed. I shelved it, returned to it later on after my ears grew some, and loved it. Inventions & Dimensions is outstanding. "Mimosa" is a favorite. I was reading this thread the other night and was shocked to see I don't yet have Takin' Off, something I intend to rectify ASAP.
  23. What a dipshit.
  24. What happens when you get 12 angry men like this on a jury?
