I also ordered this set of. For those of you who like the piano sonatas of Ludwig Van Beethoven, this 8 CDs set is a treasure and for a very cheap price. Kempff was a great pianist.

You should also try to pick up the 2 "Eminent Jay Jay" CDs on Blue Note: These recordings are a bit earlier than those on the Mosaic set, and also include some great sidemen, including Clifford Brown. I agree with Ron. In addition, everything he recorded with Kai Winding is also recommended. This is a good strat:

Two days ago I called Mosaic and ordered Bud Shank/ Bob Cooper (Mosaic Select) and JJ Johnson (Mosaic Singles).

Among all Candid releases, this is one of my favorites. I can imagine I am not the only fan of this album. What an impressive list of musicians: Mingus, Eldridge, Dolphy, Knepper, Flanagan, Max Roach, Booker little, Jo Jones and many others. I recently found myself pull it out of the shelf more and more. I agree with Nat Hentoff who wrote the liner notes: "The Newport rebellion is over, but its cracking spirit was caught alive here."

Another for this set. wonderful!!!
