What does everyone do for a living?
tjobbe replied to TheMusicalMarine's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
they -a US IT company- call me IT Project manager (as this is what my business card says) ....I call it firefighting and myself a magical wizzard Cheers, Tjobbe -
Thanks Mike for adding this thread .... one very good two-fer out of the Concord period is the live compilation Cool Fire that contains A Fuego Vivo and Good Vibes, the later one recorded shortly before he died in Manila. What I like most when listening to Cal is the fact that he can even turn the most stupid tune into a bright shining piece of music.... In terms of all-time favourites...The Getz/Tjader Sextet Fantasy (with Vince G.B-) ) ....no doubt Cheers, Tjobbe

Hi Dana, thx for soulful record. After second listening, there were more and more tracks I loved. #1 Silver'ish tune, end of sixties #2 swinging like hell. Track three from HERE #3 Soul Jazz (Crusaders ?) #4 J.Zorn maybe #5 (sounds more like a piece of "comic opera"). My first though was that it is a score for an italien comedy by Fellini. #6 later #7 later #8later #9later #10 sounds great (a Gil Evans one ?). My initial idea was a some Jimi Hendrix stuff done by him, but I have not been successful yet, but I love it. #11 Robert Wyatt maybe, guess I can dig that out #12 its more a boogie kinda thingie (but I like it) #13 the blues section and the following will be added later Cheers, Tjobbe

randomised sorting ... B-) , thats the easiest way to sort, but the hardest to find... But honestly, I pre-sort by label and style but I normally have a stack of CD's in my listening, room, some in the car, ....etc Cheers, Tjobbe

This means the disk was released in 1994. I remember reading what the t+2yrs 1996 date on the back was all about on board krypton once, but I forgot. BTW & FWIW 1994 will make it a 16bit remaster. so can than I assume that the ones TOCJ listed with dates 2002 and 2004 are either 20 or 24bit remasters and done "fresh and new" ? Cheers, Tjobbe

as I'm just listening to his 2002 record, has anyone added J.T. Meirelles to list of Alto's to be remembered ? Cheers, Tjobbe

Hi Claude, what about this one here from CD Pacific that they list as BLNJ9564.2 dated Feb 2004 ? Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: jpc.de also list a japanese one for the same date (no image although ) but charges a premium for this

@Dan: the A380 should be more fuel efficient than other actual aircafts per seat on 100km and the main target route will be to Asia Pacific as there you specially have a lot of restriction on available landing/starting slots because of night flight regulations so airlines cannot offer the amount of flights. Based on my own experience many flights to some hubs in Asia are already now heavily booked again, so I guess if they do not get huge technical start up probs it might be a success story for Airbus. I know that the relative small airport of Cologne has already been equipped with a longer runway to deal as alternative A380 landing place for the Franfurt Airport as well as target for the freighter versions of it Cheers, Tjobbe

I just ordered the Braff, Hampton/Asmussen and Brookmeyer Sonets. Maybe will get the other three later, but they seem to run out of them right now. Another question, Guy: the Sonny Stitt you mention in your initial post must be a mistake, yes? ubu The Brookmeyer and the Hampton are quite good, the Hampton is a very nice piece of music Cheers, Tjobbe P.S. they -Amazon.de- have 150 Universal CD's in total for that reduced price B-) (go for the 7,77€ link)

your royal something King Ubu if you are eagerly looking to buy some Verve Lpr's I would wait some while to check for the upcoming ones planned in Germany for MArch 05: JPC lists currenly Roach, Max:Jazz In 3 / 4 Time (Lpr) Rich, Buddy:Blues Caravan (Lpr) Gillespie, Dizzy:Sittin' In (Lpr) Edison, Harry "sweets":Sweets (Lpr) Cugat, Xavier:Cugi's Cocktails (Lpr) and also on Verve for the same date (but not noted if an lpr) Krupa, Gene: Plays Gerry Mulligan Cohn, Al: Al Cohn Quintet Feat. Bob Brookmeyer (from 1956) So I guess there at least some worth picking up... Cheers, Tjobbe

every post counts Cheers, Tjobbe -
I bought the Schifrin (but would not recommend it as first choice, not sure in retrospective why I bought it....), the Tjader is a great piece of music if you want to hear how he can turn simple tunes into nice and tasteful arrangements, not his best but good enough to buy it Cheers, Tjobbe

mhhhh, its listed at Amazon.de as "To be released 21.02.2005".... (while still waiting for my Panamanhattan from Amazon.de...) so to listen to a great accordion player, I'm listening now to the brasilian Renato Borghetti (LINK), who I would rate as at least another brilliant player onb this instrument... Cheers, Tjobbe
