In Austin: End of an Ear... excellent, excellent shop and not surprisingly, the owners are big Robert Wyatt fans. Ah, too bad he's gone. I remember walking in randomly on a visit and talking to the owner. Very nice guy and a pretty sick grip of stuff. He gave me a deal on some hard-to-find Japanese pressings and a few odds and ends.

Kondo is wonderful on those FMP discs, but I don't feel that Roy was trying to fill any shoes at Fire in the Valley.

I saw him with the re-formed Revolutionary Ensemble a few years ago. It was great, and he sounded tremendous. He had a broader sonic conception than he's given credit for. Artistry is a great LP that demands reissue.

My experience of Amacher's work has been of being startled and perceptually rearranged. I suppose that's all any musician/composer/artist can hope for. 66 is too young to go.

I saw Phillip Wilson a number of times with Braxton -- he was always so swingin' -- very earthy. What a vibe. We always thought it must be that St Louis grit.
