  1. Yeah, I'll be putting something in the next issue of Paris Transatlantic. Between the three of us, we'll have a consensus! I have to say I really like Mark Hennen. Too bad he was only with Muntu for a short time.
  2. Where are you Lester? The month isn't over yet.
  3. The label is legit and quite interesting. I have the LPs as well as the set and am glad to have it. Beautiful job they did.
  4. I finally scored Motivation - not cheap though. Very good record.
  5. I have Modern Windows on LP but have yet to score a nice copy of Tenor Stylings (tried!).
  6. That is a really nice record. Too bad the live gig I saw by that band wasn't quite as hot.
  7. Larry Young / Joe Gallivan / "Nicholas" - Love Cry Want - (Weird Forest)
  8. Austrian psych band Novaks Kapelle was also on Ariola.
  9. I was getting my wires crossed with Yosef Ben Israel.
  10. My brain seems to have gotten rewired.
  11. Green River - Come On Down - (Homestead)
  12. Maneri wasn't Jewish. Another one: bassist Absalom Ben Shlomo.
  13. The Flaming Lips - Oh My Gawd... - (Restless orig, clear vinyl) Was in the mood for something goofy and this hit the spot.
  14. What Chuck said. His vibes/marimba playing on that Dixon set is tremendous. The Logan is interesting, though I'm not sure yet if it is essential. I need to spend more time with it.
  15. I mean, I don't care what she looks like (gross), it just seems surprising that she doesn't want "attention." Or maybe she has a problem with it being from outside of her industry.
  16. Crippled Eyes Jackson. Sounds about right.
  17. The "Promo" will also deter eBay no-bootleg rules.
  18. Miles' cover is a slightly later edition (Hannan's is from the 1st, which goes for the big bucks). I actually prefer the Reid Miles jacket.
  19. Did you enjoy Gary Higgins? I saw him a year or two ago, 'twas excellent.
  20. Daah-Daah-Dah-DAAH... Dah-DAH-DUH-Duh-Daaah
  21. New issue of Paris Transatlantic up here. Interviewed: Evan Parker Reviews by yours truly: Bill Dixon, Chicago Underground Duo, Charlie Nothing, Melee, etc. And some fine reviews of Gebhard Ullmann, Lucky 7's, and things far from the jazzical realm.
  22. I don't know why, but I never think of that when I listen to Max. Though his compositional style kind of tires me out for whatever reason.
