Electronic composer/sound artist and avant-garde percussionist Max Neuhaus died on February 3rd of cancer; he was 69.
I had the pleasure of experiencing one of his installations in Houston at the Menil Collection over the summer as well as seeing some of his wonderful graphic scores and sonic architecture blueprints.

RIP and thank you, Max, for helping us to experience the world a bit differently.
I've got a spare set of labels - no spindle hole - for the first Giuseppi Logan on ESP. Anybody know a good site that will show one how to make a coaster?
Sorry to hijack, but I weighed in a bit here.
I think anybody interested - I mean really interested - in this music (not necessarily in Braxton) would do well to purchase this set. I am a fan of both but I don't think one has to be to enjoy it.
Oh yes! How could I space on her?
Lee is a very diverse singer - able to sing or recite lines "straight" yet with an ineffable sense of depth. And her production of free, non-lyric sounds is unparalleled. I particularly like her work with Gunter Hampel.
Still, my desert island vocal disc would be Patty Waters' You Thrill Me (Water).
Find the singers who most fit with the instrumental sounds/approaches you like. The vocalists who, for me, have made the most impact are those who treat their voice as a conduit for deep personal feelings and not just singing the lyrics pat.
Some whom I like in particular: Patty Waters, Sheila Jordan, Annie Ross. YMMV.
Go ahead and roll your eyes, mister rightful disdainer of not so good puns, but believe me when I tell you that instrument repair people are the top secret superheroes of the music world!
No, I thought it was really f'in funny but, you know, Baaaad.
