  1. I'll be damned if I know...
  2. Yeah, that's a really good record. I wasn't convinced of Parker initially, but I've changed my mind.
  3. You are right on Moondoc, marcello. The trumpeter is Arthur Williams, not Baikida Carroll. Arthur holds his trumpet exactly like that. The mystery drummer is most likely Rashid Bakr.
  4. Wasn't that obvious from the get-go?!?
  5. Considering how fucked the post is right now, I would not doubt that it'll show up soon... DGA are easy to work with.
  6. Right clicking did work for me, as per jazzbo's note.
  7. D'OH! [slaps forehead] I got Clifford Thornton and Clifford Jarvis confused. But obviously Jarvis loaned Thornton his drum set that day. I wouldn't be surprised if we find a companion picture of Clifford Jarvis playing trombone. Or--wait--was it tenor sax? No, that was Clifford Brown. Unless it was Clifford Jordan on trumpet? CT played cornet, valve-trombone, percussion, piano, shenai and flute at various points. Just not the drumset, as far as I know.
  8. I believe that the cellist is NOT Wadud, but the same person in #2 who is playing bass. Certainly not Roscoe, but I am at a loss who the altoist/flutist is. Looking at the names on the back of my SoundCraft '75 LP, any of those obscure mofos could be one of these dudes. There were so many cats playing loft gigs at that time, only some of whom were recorded, that it's hard to say who some of these "mystery players" are. Hell, some were "mystery players" back then!
  9. This Trane radio broadcast sounds great! I'm not sure if the CD boot that youmustbe refers to would sound as good (dunno, not seen it).
  10. I see your point, but CT didn't play no trap set!
  11. The bass player in that pic looks like a young William Parker. Sorta, but I think it's just the hat. Even as a kid, Parker's face usually didn't look that skinny!
  12. Not *those* blowing genes, though I wouldn't know first hand!
  13. Um, I started again. Well, my resolutions are to lose a few more pounds and to be stronger in combating my bouts of depression.
  14. Maybe a little young, but the drummer looks like a couple of pics I've seen of Art Lewis. Is it possible?
  15. Nice!
  16. Right, not to be confused with Wilbur Little, who did not smoke cigars... Whoops, thought you were talking about the bass player.
  17. Mississippi John Hurt - Folk Songs and Blues (Piedmont original) Preferable, in my opinion, to the Vanguard material, and excellent late-period Mississippi John.
  18. The drummer looks so familiar it's driving me crazy... Chuck's right on Baikida and Wadud. I suspect - but am not totally confident - that the second trumpeter, with the cane, may be Earl Cross. I haven't seen enough clear photos of Cross to be sure, though.
  19. "Sleepy" John Estes - Broke & Hungry (Delmark original) with not only Mike Bloomfield, but also Yank Rachell!
  20. I thought it'd be about Swell Maps...
  21. Hope yours doesn't have those radio call letters on the front - yeesh!
  22. Yeah, thanks. That seemed to work.
  23. The second label I've also heard referred to as "rainbow" because of the ABC logo. I just call them black/red... and not to be persnickety, but my spine has a reddish tint to it, rather than the usual bright orange! Though mine doesn't have Genesis labels, it looks like these!
  24. I can't remember but it wouldn't surprise me. Braxton is a ringer, indeed...
  25. Agreed, the Croydon material is amazing. I am not sure if it is currently on CD, and am too lazy to look it up.
