  1. Yes, archival material from the "Sounds of Feelings" era. Strong stuff and pretty out.
  2. Someone should grip those Axis Another Revolvable Thing CDs. Group is Masayuki Takayanagi New Direction for the Arts, FWIW.
  3. Have no idea what the legal situation is or was between the parties, and we'd have to see the contracts ourselves to know what the label is talking about. A lump sum to reissue certain titles and manufacture a set number of copies is pretty normal, but I suppose if they kept pressing them it would be a problem.
  4. Gripped yesterday -- if they set up a subscription, I'd gladly buy in.
  5. Not poor. Totally fine.
  6. I have the digital promo files from when this set was new. It is indeed really, really excellent and serves as a reminder to actually pick up the CDs.
  7. Segué also issued non-jazz regional rock, funk and R&B on 45.
  8. I have that CD but it is in storage. Excellent set indeed. My parents were visiting Stockholm and I told them to check out Andra Jazz -- they got some pictures with Harald Hult, and he gave them a copy of that CD to give to me, and signed it. Sadly never met the man.
  9. Weird! I've heard she's pretty out there, but that's something. Also, regarding Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, if anyone has tapes of the mid-60s trio they had with Bill Folwell on trumpet I'd love to hear 'em!
  10. That's awesome! His record on Three Blind Mice, Encounter!, is a favorite as well. Fantastic musician, I hope he is doing well.
  11. That's the version I have. Beautiful album.
  12. The cover photo on the Ayler set looks nice, and I'm sure it sounds good, but I'll admit I'm a bit worn out by all of this repackaging. https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/15959
  13. Sad news. RIP.
  14. If one believes in an afterlife, hopefully Wayne and the also-great Alan are reunited.
  15. ^ Yup. RIP, and a big THANK YOU.
  16. Haven't dug out the Savoy in a long time but it does sound like the music from the Savoy.
  17. Haven't read the AACM book but the AEC book is excellent.
  18. I like this record quite a bit. Have an original and would assume the 2004ish reissue is a Scorpio bootleg. Though CDs have gone a bit in the direction of the dodo (for now), I am somewhat surprised it never got an OJC treatment. Perhaps the tapes are lost.
  19. Charlie Haden told me Fruscella was the most beautiful trumpet player he experienced.
  20. Yeah, that's a nice one.
  21. That record in particular must have gotten pretty good distribution stateside (not just as an Inner City). It was everywhere at one point.
  22. Wow. Major loss -- RIP. "My Little Red Book" (as recorded by Love) was my first conscious exposure to his craft, and is still a favorite.
  23. Wonderful. Every time I saw him was magical -- the last occasion was with Michael Marcus, and his health wasn't too good, but he sounded great.
  24. Beautiful album. Perry was a sweet and unique soul -- there could be only one Perry Robinson! Glad I got to spend some time with him.
