organissimo relocation to Italy, 2010. If all goes to plan you guys will have a fan and a place to crash just outside of Tuscany. Of course the way the dollar is going its making it harder and harder.

I think it was just over six when I was there in 2006. I remember getting gas just outside of Cortona and I guess it was full service because a guy came out with a gas hose leaking gas and smoking a cigarette and filled my tank. I went into pay and they had a full service bar/cafe and the bartender who was a six foot two Sophia Loren look a like wanted to know if I wanted a espresso or a shot of grappa. I love Italy. Are you making that sh!t up?? ok, I embellished the part about gas leaking out of the hose but he did walk up with the gas hose smoking a cigarette and the bartender/cashier was gorgeous and was pouring stiff drinks. Great county.

Now that's ironic! The crowd stays for the set of Shorter tunes, but not for the artist himself! yeah, the High Life material didn't go over well at all. However thats nothing compared to what a fan said at the live Miles tribute show I saw in Berkeley with Wallace Rooney, Wayne, Herbie, Ron and Tony after Miles passed. After Agitation a fan yelled out "Play Miles!" like the band had just broke out a new tune or something. Wayne muttered buy the f-ing records. The idiocy of people. I have never heard the album High Life itself but I agree that 1+1 was a pretty big disappointment.

It seems like in the Bay Area and California its always more. Its been 3.60 for months now and I expect the summer for it to go to 3.80-4.00. I honestly can't remember the last time it was under two dollars.

Ratzo Harris on that Werner is solid. Really enjoy that album. Be interested in what you think about Zen House. One of my favorites of the numerous pairings of Hellborg and Lane. If you haven't listen to Temporal Analogues of Paradise... I am really enjoying the Kenny Werner, interesting and well done arrangements of well known standards and everybody's playing is excellent. I love what he does with Blue Train and Fall. I wish I had picked it up earlier. As for the Zen House I went into it blind based on a friends recommendation and I love it. I will definitely check out Temporal Analogues of Paradise based on your recommendation. Thanks. -
thats a funny bit. Here is the Youtube link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GDVoWCZa8hM

I saw Wayne on the High Life tour at the SF Jazz fest. Unfortunately for him he had to follow one of the best opening sets I have ever seen with the Christian McBride Quintet playing Blue Note covers of Shorter tunes. About 3 songs into Wayne's set about 80% of the crowd had left. My wife and went up to the front and enjoyed the rest of the show. Rachel Z was excellent through out and the version of Footprints of the encore was excellent.

I like them both. Holon is bit more beat oriented but Stoa is worth your time if you are enjoying Holon. They put on a great in SF, mingled with the crowd afterwards as they said they would to "answer questions or take criticism". They were sold out of their CD's that were not put out on ECM. Nik said he would mail some to my friend because he had the only review of Stoa on Amazon for 8 months and remembered him from their very first US show that they played in NY. Cool bunch of guys.

What about the rule that can't complain about your team the first four years after a championship? Red Sox fans will never be happy. Jesus, you get four gimme's to open the season against my team that is putting out a triple A team. Injuries? try having to watch (or not watching) Crosby, Chavez and Harden the last three years.
-
agree. we shall see about the later. I was surprised at how Standford was able to shut them down for such a long stretch.
-
no, they are good team that for some reason the rules of the game don't apply to. I know you need to let the teams play but the plays that were allowed against Stanford and Cal were bs. Even in football you can't tackle guys like that, those would be would be 15 yard pass interference penalties but UCLA gets away with it. and the rule book says you can't toss the ball over the backboard. I guess the networks want UCLA to have a # one seed. Must be nice to have the rules of the game changed depending on the school you play for.

CJ, I think you will be happy with them. Paps, good job! those are the ones to get.

My first Grant Green CD and I have been a fanatic ever since. Great soloing over delicious Herbie Hancok gospel piano. While there may be better Grant CD's this is a fine addition to your collection. Get it asap. I don't have the RVG version but I don't have a problem with the McMaster version of this.

How about Fat Albert Routunda? Does it fit the criteria. Great album. -
blew out the last of my amazon gift card with: Gateway with Sitar!

If true that really blows. I have enough shows from there to last me but the information on it was a great resource and I met some cool people there. I hope it comes back just so ahopkins and eematz can finish the great reviews they were doing on the 74 tour. It was worthy of a book.

It would be impossible for somebody to sustain the body of work he did in the sixties but I have disagree that there weren't any albums post 1969 that don't stand up with what came before. fwiw my top five Dylan records in order are: Highway 61 Blood On The Tracks (74, 75?) Bringing It All Back Home Blond On Blond Love and Theft (2001) Yes while his voice is shot on Love and Theft the songs are fantastic and the band is exceptional. Track down a bootleg of the acoustic sessions of Blood On The Tracks, it equals or surpasses the official release and contains Up To Me which should have made Blood. I know a lot of people that consider Blood to be his best and I can't make a argument against. I am not the biggest fan of Desire but the live release from the Rolling Thunder tour stands up with his best work in my opinion as well.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

Last night I saw Nik Bärtsch's - Ronin in San Francisco. Fantastic, great sound and group dynamics, the drummer is phenomenal. They stretch out a bit more live than on the records and they get really into it and interact with the crowd. They hung out after the show to talk to people, nice humble guys. Last night of the tour before heading back to Switzerland. Glad I got to catch them. -

My list isn't really in order but like you Grant is one of my all time favorite artists and I can listen to Grant soloing over Idris drumbeats till the cows come home. Grant's Live at Club Mozambique isn't the greatest thing in the world but those moments on it where Idris and Grant are locked into each other is heavenly. What I meant is, you put it in twice! So you have a spare place to give the album of your choice! MG oops.. damn, Im getting old. -

The Muscian's Experience vs the Enthusiast
WorldB3 replied to Bill McCloskey's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I think the more I know the more I try to learn the more I realize how hard it is. While I think a bit of knowledge helps with the appreciation of what is going on I don't think musician's have an huge advantage if it moves them emotionally. I don't gig anymore but when I did I always found it interesting how it never mattered how I felt about it. I would have some shows where it felt like a disaster and people thought it was good and others where I nailed something I thought to be complex, people were eh, it was ok. -
