  1. Didn’t Mulatu with Heliocentrics play Glastonbury a few years back? Remember seeing it on the telly.
  2. Surely too late for a McLaughlin session appearance - he would have been with Mahavishnu in 1972.
  3. Joe Meek engineered at Lansdowne Studio for Denis Preston before he set up his own operation. The ‘Jazz Couriers’ recorded for Tempo (Decca) whilst they were extant so this one must have been a deal with Tony Hall. This session issued in UK as Tempo TAP 26 ‘The Last Word’.
  4. Up for an airing. Very nice sounding 4LP set. Starting with ‘For Sure’, featuring Judi Singh.
  5. UK Contemporary/Vogue from 1965/66, stereo
  6. I figured that it might well get a repress but current pressing plant constraints might push this well into the future. Who knows though?
  7. Ordered from the UK outpost of the Bezos Empire about a week ago. Just hope it doesn’t have that LP 3 and 4 duplication reported on Hoffman.
  8. My LP set has just been dispatched, ready for delivery tomorrow.
  9. I was very fortunate to see Cedar and the trio quite a few times. Even got to chat with Cedar on a couple of occasions and as a club volunteer, made him some popcorn after the gig ! First time I saw him was with Eastern Rebellion around 1980, also with Higgins and Williams. Last time was a free outdoor gig in Central LA, Pershing Square, in 1999 where that very same trio was backing George Coleman. That was the last occasion I saw Billy Higgins - an absolute trooper. I have photos taken at that gig somewhere. Most unusual gig of his - Ronnie Scott’s where the trio had Prof Irwin Corey as the 2nd act. The Prof asked for audience questions and the first one was ‘When is Cedar Walton coming back on?’ Sponsored by Cadbury?
  10. Cecil T. and Sam Rivers Jack Sheldon.
  11. She also arranged this - which most people of ‘a certain age’ here in the UK will immediately recognise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33vc3U1X7co
  12. Mark Myers did a Barbara Moore overview here - https://www.jazzwax.com/2018/02/barbara-moore-swinging-pop.html I’d forgotten that she did all those TV sessions with Dusty Springfield and Sandi Shaw as well.
  13. Might be because these were originally Lansdowne Series productions from the UK with Jazzland given US rights at time of original issue. Lansdowne Series ownership went to Universal.
  14. Honest Jon blue label cutout !
  15. No probs, glad that you enjoyed it ! I remember the place mainly from 1981-82. It was definitely Honest Jon’s when I arrived and might have made the transition to Rhythm by the time I had left, not sure.
  16. ‘Pitman’ Mono 2-Eye
  17. Yes, that’s it - Rhythm Records from the early 80s. By pure chance I happened to call for the first time in decades during the 2000s, literally days before they closed it for good. Almost bare racks. Still recognisable layout from the old HJs though. By some fluke amongst the few LPs they still had on sale was a Sonny Fortune Strata-East for a fiver. I wonder if they were doing a last minute clearance of very old stock from the cupboards? Sorry to see it go. A sad sight though at the end. Some tat girls clothing and “accessories” shop for Amy Winehouse wannabees moved in after that I think (like seemingly 99.99% of that neighbourhood now).
  18. Shame that this old Camden Town outlet of HJs is now ancient history. I’m sure that it would have kept most of us on this thread very happy, in its circa 1980 vintage. Spent many a fond hour in there ‘back in the day’ and it was within easy walking distance ! Punk and reggae on the ground floor, honking and shrieking jazz in the basement. http://camdennewjournal.com/article/vinyl-destination An eventful locale. Only many years later did I find out that the upstairs flat was (years earlier) the location for the ‘Kaleidophon’ studio of Delia Derbyshire, David Vorhaus and Brian Hodgson with ‘White Noise - An Electric Storm’ being conceived there.
  19. Last time I was at Soul Brother was well over 10 years ago, with the racks well stocked with second hand jazz. At the time they had quite a number of original Blue Notes, especially Libertys. The main problem seemed to be finding somewhere to park my car near there. Wouldn’t even consider doing that journey by car now ! Inner Inner Sanctum?
  20. Yes, recovered in between viewings of Punch & Judy. Thought at first it was by David Stone Martin but it isn’t.
  21. UK London, mono. UK HMV mono
  22. Same here - very much a cult figure. Having said that, she appeared on TV in vocal backing groups a fair bit back in the day (60s-70s). The Ladybirds in particular.
  23. UK Columbia mono. Seaside find !
